Well Today I told my brother to drain out my gas because it was pretty old and he was like yea yea.An hour later he calls me saying he didnt drain it out because he had no container so he just let it idle.Well it ofcourse overheated and spit out all the coolant by the front of the bike and now I dont know which coolant is best for my bike.Or can I just use any 50/50 or any coolant. Please help me because im a pretty big noob with this stuf.

If it overheated, you have more troubles than what coolent to run.....

I use Acura factory coolent. Honda works just as well, color is the differance.

Well he said it started spitting coolant out by the front and made a noise for like 10min.all the coolant that was in spilled out.

not to rag on you or him, but if it was making a funny noise why let it run for 10 minutes listening to it?

No it was making the noise even when he turned it off.For like 10minutes then when all the coolant was out it stopped. But thats cause hes an idiot and let the bike overheat my letting it idle for like an hour.

I run engine ice. If i was you I would pull the exhaust off, and the intakes, and reeds. Roll the engine over by hand and look in through the exhaust and Intake passages at the piston skirts. Look for scoring and other damage.

Bike turns on.Just turned it on to make sure it was ok.Dont wanna ride it because i have no coolant. It sounds perfect.

Is it bad to turn on for about 3 seconds when it has no coolant.I cant now because i drained out all the gas already.IM a big rookie but im pretty sure scoring can not be a good thing. Now i need help.

No running it for a couple of seconds with out coolant wont hurt anything. Just dont give it time to warm up. You can run any type of coolant you want, just make sure that it is all the same. Get you a gallon of preston, peak, or what ever brand you want. Some people run the long life stuff. I would probably do that if I wasnt running engine ice. Engine Ice is supose to be the best, it helps your machine run cooler in the dead heat of summer.

At the least I would do a compression check. You could always pull the pipes off and just look in through the exhaust ports. Dont requires nothing but your time, and gives you some reassurance.

prestone peak and all those aitn freezes dont do anything to cool your motor... they are just as the name says, anti freezes. they make the water resistant to cold temps so you dont have a block of ice inside your radiator and casue it to rip open once the fliud expands. think of it like a soda bottle.. you freeze it and its fine but as soon as you thaw it out it will bust out the bottle when it starts expanding..

if you want to properly cool your motor get a bottle of either engine ice, or buy a gallon of distilled water and a thing of redline watter wetter and mix some up... i like the watter wetter you can make many gallons of it for the price of 1 gallon of engine ice.

I tried something called "STOPS Overheating Cools Like Ice Water" Made by Pro Blend. It says it reduces water temperature up to 28 degrees. You can get it at autozone. It doesnt contain any Antifreeze. I would guess that it will freeze in the winter though. It says 28 bucks on their site but I paid no where nere that. I cant remember how much it was but I want to say right around 10 bucks. Here is the link

Engine Ice cools very well and (i belive) offers freeze protection in the winter.. Pretty good stuff..

You said it was making a noise after you turned it off... Could it been the coolant boiling???
