Trick2stroke Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Looks heavy and over engineered. You shouldn't need that much reinforcement there. Quote
thrill-billy85 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Looks heavy and over engineered. You shouldn't need that much reinforcement there. well yeah.... but the good news is, its not gonna break from being too strong. i think the extra plate MIGHT have weighed a pound... ill make up for the two pounds gained somwhere else for sure. like my aluminum airbox vs. the heavy plastic piece of junk. also i really do not think it TOO over-built, if you remember the new shock mounting point is now 2.25 inches further in. now if you consider that to be the new fulcrum point (which it most definately is) then the added leverage ON that fulcrum is almost exponential. i dont know the formula for it all, but stands to reason that there is ALOT more added strain, with the added length of the arms PAST the shock mount point (width) that being said... i dont think its over-built (very much, if at all)... and once again... things break when theyre under-built, not over built.... as for the weight... its onlt a couple pounds on a dune/play bike... not a dragger. finished results: Quote
Trick2stroke Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Looks bad ass! You did a good job. I agree, better safe than sorry. Quote

smokin 2 stroke Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 whats your ground clearance with the 16.5in shocks ? Quote
bad 350 shee Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 im not really sure i havent checked i dont think i lost any the front didnt drop allot like some i see ill post a side pic Quote
bansheeyfz450 Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Does anyone make the spacers for the lower arms? I am about to install the 450 front end and wanted to know if anybody sells the spacers or do i have to get them custom made. Quote
bansheeyfz450 Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 I got the spacers. My question, can you run yfz450 brake lines? Quote
Glenyboy Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 You can fit the front brake system off of the 450 ( that includes master cylinder) onto a banshee, meant to be a little bit more responsive. As for the lines I do not know if they marry up Quote
bansheeyfz450 Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Stock Banshee brake lines are plenty long. I even have the yfz450 calipers. But I think it would be a good upgrade for the yfz450 master cylinder and longer tie-rods. Quote
rideSAND Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 i used all raptor 700 stuff (all the same as 450 except taller shocks, also i have an 06 700 so i didnt have ressi shocks) and i dont have as bad of a ball joint angle and ride height as the ones with 450 shocks. i have the shocks at the softest setting so it sits a little lower than it could but i dont need the clearance for the sand. fully compressed Quote
bansheeyfz450 Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 I used yfz450 spindles. The angle looks good, i will try to get some pics this weekend. How long are the Raptor shocks eye to eye? I heard some people with the conversion are running the yfz450r shocks. They are 18 1/4 eye to eye/ Quote
speed_freak03 Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 a quick question, i have a j arm frame, and i've been kickin' around the idea of doing this for some time. is the front top mount in the same location as a a arm frame? would i just have to weld a seccond tab beind it? i know i have to weld new mounts for the rear of the arm, but i don't want suspension geometry to be outta wack. does anyone have experience with this swap on a j arm frame?
