swingarm bolt

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on removing the swingarm bolt ? I can get it to spin but can't get it out! I tried beating it out with a hammer, no go.

get a long flat bar or screw driver ...

 

hit it while someone moves the swing arm up and down and it will work its way out after you get it past the first part of the frame it gets into a bind and you have to move it around to take the pressure off of it.

Same problem here. I worked on it last night and gave up.

 

I tried moving the Swingarm up an down and hitting it. No luck still.

 

I'm real close to getting a sledge hammer and murdering this thing.

murder then cut the bolt without damaging the frame. happend to me many times and a 15 lb sledge hammer with all my force could not remove the bolt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I went through this on my old dirtbike, killed the bolt getting it out. Then (I assume the Banshee is similar) it is a ground to size, metric bolt, whcih for my RM125 was $45.00. Luckily I was able to have a buddy in the machine shop make one.

man either i have superhuman pwoers or you guys are tards lol iv taken mine off a few time and when it binds up you just got to move the swinger up down and side to side... im able to tap mine out with a normal hammer and a big screw driver...i win

Shouldn't be too hard. Jack up the quad at the rear end of the frame, but let the tires stay on the ground. It should come right out once you get most of the weight off the bolt.

its in the prep job. if you take it out and grease it every few months and use a little antiseize it is that easy. if you ride it for 9 years and never think about it, get out your cutting tools.

9 years ? try 8 months for one of my bolts to get seized in there.

well i took a 15 lb sledge hammer and put the frame sideways in the grass and smashed in about 15 times , till the top was musrhoomed out and all the neighbors were like what the hell is this guy doin...... none the less the cut off grinder took about 5 minutes to cut.

Lots of penatrating oil and an air chisel to work the bolt back and forth has always got them out for me. They can be real tough sometimes.

When you get it out...do yourself a favor, on this bolt or the next one.

Drill and tap both ends. Plug one with a flush allen bolt, the other with a zerk fitting.

 

Than...put the bolt in a press and drill 3 or 4 small holes in it...

 

Now you can grease the swinger just like the front and rear suspension...
