banshdog Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I believe that stock carbs cant be switched sid to side, make sure that they on on correct ---- choke should be on your left. Make sure choke tube is in place. Did you put in new plugs? Gas??? when my bike runs low on gas, the left carb doesnt get gas flowing to it. Just a couple simple ideas, good luck..... Quote
Hilarious Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 What elevation are you? Are you up high enough in elevation where you can run pump gas with those 19cc domes? If you have spark and compression, last thing you need is fuel. Do you know what size pilot & main jets are in your carbs and needle settings? I dont know how Kehin sizes their jets but someone may come in here and could tell you if you list the jet sizes. Are your carbs syncronized? What do your spark plugs look like? What other mods do you have to your bike? Have you got a good seal between your carbs, reed cages and intakes? No air leaks anywhere? Quote

I have screwed with mine for almost a year now and thought I had it fixed but it came back the other day. I gave up and took it in to see what they say. I should get a phone call today and I will post here when they tell me what they found wrong. Let's hope they know what the hell they are talking about. Quote
ban1 Posted April 11, 2006 Author Report Posted April 11, 2006 i can run pump gas (premium)got new intakes and like i said changed carbs side to side with no change cant remember what jets but plugs look good . listed mods and also have dial a jet it cant be a carb problem (can it)? Quote
Wallrat Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Did you try cleaning the carbs? My first guess by the symptoms would be a clogged jet. I know you said u switched em but did you double check that it was the same cyl that wasn't running? Another thing you can check is the exhaust pipes. People have left rags in there after a rebuild and even had mice make a home in there. Quote
ban1 Posted April 11, 2006 Author Report Posted April 11, 2006 i have cleaned carbs changed jets played with needles it is getting gas left cyl at exhaust pipe has got oil down the out side were it hasnt burnt it so gas is not a problem. left cyl exhaust has air coming out but it isnt hot like right side until it gets into power band runs great in power band but cant allways ride in powerband (or can I) Ha Ha Quote
fast500#12 Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 check for air leaks, cracked or chipped reeds ect. Quote
Wallrat Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Or carbs out of sync... There was a thread not too long ago where a member had only 1 cyl running. It went on for awhile so just about every possible reason was addressed. I'd search for that. Quote
Ben350 Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I had the exact same problem with stock carbs and it ended up being plugged up pilot and pilot bore. Sounded like it idled fine but had no low end and one side wouldn't have any smoke or hot exhaust until i revved it up. Quote
ban1 Posted April 12, 2006 Author Report Posted April 12, 2006 like i said i have swaped carbs from side to side with no change left cyl still not firing Quote
mybanshees2fast4u Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 i have been having the same probelm for a long time with my bike with stock carbs. The one float in the carb that wasnt firing right was not at the right height. Set the height to stock setting, it fires and runs its ass off. Also I had a faulty coil that wasnt sending enough spark at low rpms to keep it running but when it was buzzed up ran good. Check the coil for continunity and the float hieghts Quote
Capone Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 a big problem I had I could never figure out, sometimes you'll put the slides in the wrong carb, (at least I did with out paying attention) and it'll run just will bog out on bottom end. Quote
ban1 Posted April 15, 2006 Author Report Posted April 15, 2006 every one is talking about a carb problem bu like i said i have swaped carbs from side to side with no change. have gas and oil running down head from exhaust flange that isnt burning in cylinder. thats why i dont think its a carb problem Quote
Wallrat Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Okay so you have spark on both cyls? If you do, then it really sounds like you're rich on both sides, but worse on the left due to float height. You said you've had this problem the whole time since you bought it - so what size jets are you running? Quote
