Well....my CPIs have just turned a light golden tan, where they mount to the

engine. I have been dogging the hell out of my bike and have not had a problem

till now. I dont know about running rich and having them turn colors, but I ran out

of gas and just noticed they had just started to turn blue. <_<

As far as I know my bike is jetted good. Plugs look good too.

Same thing when I had fattys on my bike.

both my sets of T5's have tan'd tehn blue'd on me, and mines Dyno'd. I know its dialed in right. the only thing I can think of is the wide range of elevations I run at. between 0-10,000 ft.

my pc's did the same thing. first trip to the dunes with them. part that pisses me off is the water spots. just gonna leave it, hopefully it evens out. personally i think the bluing on my titanium header on my gixxer 1000 looks good.

yep, my pc's turned shortly after putting them on also. i was told it was too lean and jetted up. plug chops looked much better, and the pipes haven't gotten any worse since. mothers took some of the discoloration out of it, they are mostly a golden color now. it actually looks kind of cool. B)

i use mothers on the fatty's too, it helps take the blue to a tan color but its hella elbowgrease to gettem there tho. my vito's pipes are getting a very slight golden color to em and short of tunin it on a dyno my jetting is spot on.

Try scrubbing the pipes with an SOS pad and then follow it up with a good chrome polish. It won't remove 100% of the blueing but when done right, about 80% will disappear for a while...then repeat the process. It's not that bad, I always polish my pipes so adding one more step to keep them looking good isn't too much trouble. :shrugani:

yea I had my t6s turned blue, but my CPI's didnt much. Ive heard its what kind of chrome job it has. some chrome jobs are good and others not so good.

sometimes that's because once you spend so much money to get them, some of us are broke and can't afford to do much else with it. so you take care of them with the best means possible withing your budget. i had no idea it would be an issue before it happened either. mine cleaned up just fine with mother's and a little elbow grease. it's not a show bike by any means, the mud pretty much covers up the discoloration anyway. :D

i don't mean to be an ass, but your comin' across like a fellow who doesn't believe in elbow grease, or coming in contact with any other grease for that matter. :bolt:

No this isn't me...

I am a fellow who is not cheap. It is like buying a Viper and putting in 85 octane 7-11 gas...

My opinion is, why do it at all if you are going to do it half assed that is all.

i just couldnt bring myself to coat a set of pipes and ruin the chrome. i myself do not like coated pipes ... the one on ur 450 looks nice but, man i just couldnt bring my self to do to my pipes what you did to the toomey's ...... LOL i work on a oil drilling rig so a little bit of elbow grease is not a issue and well worth it to retain the chrome on my pipes.... O and theyre talkin about painting the inside of the pipe with hitemp for a insulation to protect the chrome plating :notworthy:
