BilDaKid Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 I know, most people will say, stop being a cheap ass and buy race gas. my question is why? what's wrong is octane boost? does in just not work? or not work as advertised? I don't have any experience with it personaly, so hopefully some of you guys have. Quote
Bansh88 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 You only need more Octane if you your compression is higher. In which case, you need race gas Quote
8buck Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Okay... PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. If a bottle of octane boost says "114 octane" on it, that means you would have 114 octane if you ran straight octane boost without mixing it with gas. If you mix it with fuel according to what the bottle says "1 bottle to 10 gals of gas", you raise the octane of your fuel 1 point. One point means it would only go from 91.3 to 91.4 for example. No? Motoman991 Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 octane boost is a waste of money, how much did it cost for a bottle like $8 or something around that? you could buy like a gallon and a half of 114 for that. mixing that in with 10 gallons of 94 will raise the octane more than 1 point Quote
banshee tuner Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Where I live for the same price will get about 2 gallons of 110 race fuel. The octane boost only raises like .01 points like everyone says, plus it gums up your head. Quote
iceman Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 the only stuff that really works is if you run straight nitro. Quote
BilDaKid Posted February 15, 2006 Author Report Posted February 15, 2006 so it's bullshit. got it. Although, i thought one point of octane would be like 91-92, not 91.1-91.2 . I'm just guessing though. Quote
Stinger Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 In most cases yes, it's bullshit. There is a octane booster from Torco that actually works though. It's very popular with the turbo/supercharger guys that don't want to run race fuel but need the octane. I've used it in my Turbo Mustang with great success...over 20psi on pump gas + 1/4 can of Torco Race Fuel Concentrate. Quote
MYquadsFaster Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 i picked up some torco octane booster from knights autoparts and that shit works great for me in my banshee it can raise it up like 5 points i mix a full pint in 5 gallons of gas..... .02 Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 17, 2006 Report Posted February 17, 2006 id just buy the correct fuel... Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 so it's bullshit473972[/snapback] RIGHT! Quote
