First thing is you should do it yourself. Get a clymers (30.oo) and head out. ITs way easier than you think.

If its that low, you will probably need to get them bored out. Last time I got my cyl's bored it cost me 45.oo a cylindr..and since we have two....well 90 for the bore. now depending on what type of pistons you get, you will need two pistons clips and rings.

the Pro-X piston kit that I got ran about 150-175 if I remember right.

Youll need a ring remover(found at the hardware store for 8 bux) and a TORQUE Wrench (25 bux at Kragen).

Parts & Bore=200

Tools & Manual=70

Learning how to do it yourself then riding her=PRICELESS

Hope this helps

Yup...compression tester is cheap (10 bux)....and then you could verify that their numbers are acurate.

People on here say you shouldnt let it even get to 90 PSI before re-ringing at least.

Do a search on here on how to do a compression test...get the tester...and have at it.

Hell if you follow these steps, youll end up with a clymers, that you will use forever, some good tools, and a compression tester, that you will use a few times a year.

If your compression was that low, it would not run at all...unless you're in some extreme climate. Besides that, the difference in pressure between the 2 cyilders is too much for it to run properly

Before letting them touch your quad, I would go out and buy you a compression tester and test it yourself...just to be sure. It may need a rebuild, but if those were the numbers you were given, your banshee would be running like shit if at all, definitely wouldn't run good.

Go back and get it! I agree 100% w/bigboybanshee.

Trust no one, especially a mechanic that knows you have no idea about your bikes engine. Top ends are easy to do. keep everything clean and you shouldn't have a problem doing the job yourself. You might want somone to take a look at your crank though. Good luck

DO IT YOURSELF....they'll take u..i promise..its not that hard...give jeff at fast or jim at passion a call...they can do your cylinders and send u the piston kit back..

Simple!

i took my quad back to the dealership when it blew up the first time, they told me my crank was shot and got me to buy a new long rod kit, i was looking on ebay a little bit after they completed my bike and i found them selling like 3 of the exact same cranks on ebay.....they worked me after that i bought a clymers....i think you should take the advice of the people on here and if anything goes wrong you always got the HQ.......

do it yourself!!!!

even after you spend the money on tools and parts you'll still save over the stealership, but have the tools for the next time :D

It is easy and you have us incase you get into trouble and get stumped. Plus you'll learn your engine and you need to learn to jet it.

Like stated ^^ if it was that low comp. then it would run crappy if at all!

sounds as if they're going to rape you without lube.

Hell you could send the cylinders off to got bored or honed either it needs and ported and back together and still be cheeper then the stealerships topend price.

where you live? There's people on here all across this country that if in driving distance wouldnt mind helping someone rebuild your shee for a beer or a smoke.

If not, we can take you through the steps quite easily. Do a search on here, I know I've written down the steps basically.

Its incredibly simple. Take off plastics, gas tank, carbs, intake, drain coolant, head, cylinders, pistons.....and then put back together again.

When you pull the cylinders, take them to a machine shop. Stock bore is 64mm. They will tell you what size pistons you need. Order the pistons and then take them back to the machine shop and have them bore the cylinders to the pistons. (tighter bore that way).

Buy a dirtwheels magazine, there's tons of wiseco kits that come with the bearing shipped to your door for 150 bucks.

cylinders need to be torqued to 10, 15, and then 20 lbs, and the same with the head (follow the number sequence on the top of the stock head, and when taking the stock head off, back them off from 10 to 1 so you dont warp the head)

My banshee ran with 60 lbs in one cylinder and 95 in the other cylinder so the compression might be right....but you should buy a tester anyway
