2005 banshee Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Hey Guys.....Wanted to get more power out of my 05 Banshee and was wondering if i should get my engine ported. I have T6 pipes with the 2 in 1 air filter, and Noss cool head with 21cc domes. I've read that porting doesn't work well with the T6's, but also read that if you get it ported for that pipe, it works fine. I ride mostly trails, so was thinking of getting just a mild port. Maybe an eric gorr woods port. Any thoughts or opinions on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot John Quote
rocketboy Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 not sure if id pick gorr for that ,but i would definitly get it ported ,even though t6 arent the best on modified engines ,your bike will still greatly benefit from a port job IMO Quote
2005 banshee Posted December 13, 2005 Author Report Posted December 13, 2005 Who would you pick to do the porting ? Quote
ogre03 Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 I haven't had him do any work for me, so I can't say for sure, but people really seem to like his woods port. There are a few people on here with expirience with it. Actually, I can't remember who it is but someone on here has Gorr's woods port with T6's. They said they called Eric and asked him and he said they would do fine with his woods port because most of the work is done to the transfer ports and not the exhaust (or something close to that, I'm going from memory here). Anyway the person was happy with the outcome. I have 6's and I was going to have it done, but I decided tires for my truck were more important right now Quote

Thanks alot John 448141[/snapback] I have eric gorrs more power everywhere port,I think that's what he called it. t-6 pipes, all the normal bolt on stuff. the portwork made the most power out of anything.best $250 I spent. the power comes on sooner, pulls harder throughout, and revs higher. nice guy to deal with also, and quick turn around Quote
Banshee17Racing Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 It sounds to me like a Gorr woods port would be awesome for what you ride. I have no experience with TR6's, but I think if Eric says it will work, then it will work. BUT, are there other pipes out there that will have a better response to the port? I think that's the most important question. I say the only thing you can do is try the TR6's w/the port and if you like 'em, keep 'em. If you don't like 'em, sell 'em and buy another set of pipes that you think would better fit your style of riding. And if you end up selling them, you might even save some money. I sold my T-5's after getting the port (Gorr) and bought Pro-Circuits, and I actually came up with $100 from the swap! Quote
Wallrat Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Its not that you won't get any benefit by having T6's and porting, its just that T5's respond better to porting than the T6's. I'd say talk to your builder and let him know you'll be running T6's. Chances are you won't make as much HP as with T5's but you'll still get some nice gains. Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 it will indoubtedly run better with the porting but the t6 will hold it back some. i highly recommend gorrs woods port with t5's and 33mm pwk. even with stock carbs itll run like hell..my bros setup was awesome for the trails. the power came on about 4000 rpm and would rev out pretty good.. ToomeySheeLE Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Hey Loco, Glad to hear the setup works, Im in the process of getting my cylinders ported and was hoping i'd be able to stick with the t-6s for a while anyways.. Do you happen to know what carb setup your brother used with his stockers on the port and pipe job? Thanks Quote
2005 banshee Posted December 13, 2005 Author Report Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks to everyone who responded. Your info has been helpful. Has anyone out there gotten a port job other than Gorr's with the T6's ? If so, has it work out for you ? Just wanna check out all options before sending it out. Also are there any other mods i should do before porting ? Have the pipes and cool head... Quote

BigRed350x Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 T5's are the way to go. The T6's aren't the greatest. I have the T5's and Gorr port and love it. I will be going to a cub setup this summer though, can't wait!! Quote
