most likely you just need to take the pressure plate off and roate it one set of holes clockwise or counter-clockwise. this will let the plate sit flush against the disks. with the disks being loose, i would've thought it would've felt very very very easy at the lever, but give that a try.

I can't recall from the last time I had mine apart was the clutch boss keyed onto the shaft? I wish I had my clymers here. I've had the nut that holds the clutch come loose before but that takes all the pressure off of the clutch lever. Sounds to me like you've got something installed incorrectly.

if your disks are just loose in there, I'd think that you could move the clutch arm with your fingers way past the arrow alignment.

did you take the basket off to? if so there is a cooper spacer that goes behind it and if its not there it will do that. i had the same thing happen to me on my complete rebuild. pull it back apart and look it over real good

make sure the center is'nt hung up, that happened to me but I had no lever, you may also have to just adjust it?

the clutch felt fine at the lever. But once I pulled the cover off the disc's were loose in the basket. I was kinda thinking it was adjusted wrong, but I'm not sure.

If your lever feels normal, you've most likely installed the pressure plate incorrectly. There is an arrow on the clutch basket located on one of the basket fingers. When installing the pressure plate, one of the three arrows on the pressure plate have to align with the the arrow on the clutch basket. If the arrows are not aligned, the pressure plate will not engage fully on the transmission main shaft. This will cause the pressure plate to never engage the clutch plates even though the lever is out and everything seems to be adjusted correctly from the outside. Pull the right side cover again and inspect the orientation of the pressure plate in reference to the clutch basket. Hope this helps.

word. if u can move your clutch plates either you forgot one or your pressure plate is not sitting against the outside plate. you may need to turn it some to get it to sit in there flush. im betting you didnt get the pressure plate in there right. ive installed mine before and had to turn it some to get it to slide in there right.

mine done the same thing.i installed a new barnett carbon fiber set.the fibers are thinner on these and and since these were thinner and my pressure plate was worn down enough the clutch would'nt take hold.i had to put a new pressure plate in it.
