sand4ever Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 I just fired up my new motor and after a few minutes it started leaking antifreeze out of the four middle nuts. All the nuts were torqued to 23 ft lbs. the motor runs stock bore weisco pro lights, +3 degrees timing, modquad coolhead 18cc, t-5 toomeys. After pulling the head off and examining it, the seals were all in place and everything looked fine. So can any one tell me what to do to fix the leak. thanks Quote
bkabina Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Cap nuts and copper or aluminum washers.People have had this problem with many brands of cool heads, and this is the best way to fix it.As long as the coolant is only leaking around the studs and not into the cylinder. Quote
sand4ever Posted October 30, 2005 Author Report Posted October 30, 2005 I'm using the cap nuts and copper washers that came with the modquad head. that is why I do not understand why it is leaking Quote
macgillivary Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 try re torquing the nuts usually takes a few heat cycles before they stop leaking Quote
dlnoss Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Try removing the nuts that are leaking and putting a little RTV silicone on the threads then reinstall the nuts. Quote
quadfever54 Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 I had this problem and I had damaged a couple of the o rings when installing the head. I you felt any resistance or fought getting the head all the way down on the cylinder then this may be the problem. Quote
Hulio-mv Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 my mod quad head did the same i warmed it up and re tightned a few times and all was fine Quote
