NYUK Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 you can adjust the lockup on a banshee. the ones from direct drive ,nuts can be added to the bolts on the end of the fingers to make it lock up harder. big boys has custom cut weights that will make his lock up solid when dumped off the line. blueshee03 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 nope as far as alowing the clutch to slip a little it won't.you can however remove some weight by removing bolts and nuts from the fingers that squeeze against pressure plate so there is'nt as much force squeezing on the clutches.as i stated in an earlier post ANYONE who installs a lockup on they're clutch should also install a bearing kit to keep the adjuster ,ball and pushrod from welding they're selves together.i'v been there and done that and it aint pretty.the bearing kit is an inexpensive item compared to having to replace the parts it welds together and quite possibly the tranny shaft that the pushrod slides in.once installed do not rev the motor with the tranny in gear and clutch pulled with out the bearing kit or i can almost guarentee a welded and ruined adjuster ,ball and pushrod.jim at passion can sell you one of these bearing kits as can andy at grr.the bearing kit is also great with no lockup it will help take the friction off the adjuster, ball, and pushrod and the lockup cover is great with no lockup so then you can work on clutch without pulling entire cover off.just some advice and knowledge from experience. RNBRAD Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Anyone know what the lock-up mechanism weighs? Is there a noticeable difference in slower revs due to the extra spinning mass? Quote

DemonShee Posted October 25, 2005 Author Report Posted October 25, 2005 MAN!!! Being someone that likes things done right, I can see this thing is going to cost me a small fortune!! With going to the 4mil long rod and if I decide on doing the NOS, I bet I will need one of these eventually. The next things on the list first though is a cool head and I have decided on the single carb set-up as well for the bottom end torque I am after. Back to the subject......So do these make the clutch handle alot harder to pull? Might have to go to hydrolic clutch if thats the case, I have messed up tendons in my hands. Quote
BansheeBillyBob Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 might be able to get away with an easy pull lever... Quote
switchblade Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 demonshee, if you go with the 4mil you will already gain alot of torque across the powerband. So I would stick to dual carb. I have run both setups and the duals if they match your engine setup make tuns more power. As far as the luck up I really can't tell that is pulls any harder then without. Quote
blueshee03 Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 (edited) pulls the same to me.as for the cost ,you are lookin at around 400 bucks give or take a couple bucks ,for lock up ,cover and bearing kit.if you are going with the 4mil cub i would seriously think about getting lockup set up,you won't regret it.especially if you are making higher hp and torque and have any plans of drag racing your shee.the hydraulic clutch system is great also but thats another 200 bucks give or take a few. bigboybanshee Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Thanks for the replies guys!! Cept yours BBB 428788 Hey, I'm a BBB too! Hey bigboy that looks tight. Do you have a hard time shifting when you on the gas? I have been told that I need to get one because my bike will eat some clutch plates real fast. oh yeah you missed a spot when you polished the side case.... 428839 No sir, didn't notice any difference in shifting after I installed it...except the fact that I knew it was grabbing a lot harder!! you can adjust the lockup on a banshee. the ones from direct drive ,nuts can be added to the bolts on the end of the fingers to make it lock up harder. big boys has custom cut weights that will make his lock up solid when dumped off the line. 428886 Yep, and that bastard DOES NOT slip at all...had me pointed up in the air looking at the stars last time I was at the track Anyone know what the lock-up mechanism weighs? Is there a noticeable difference in slower revs due to the extra spinning mass? 429349 Don't know how much it weighs, but it's not much at all. I installed a lightened flywheel at the same time so it's hard to tell if it slowed my revs down any...mine revs really quick now, quicker than before that's for sure. Back to the subject......So do these make the clutch handle alot harder to pull? Might have to go to hydrolic clutch if thats the case, I have messed up tendons in my hands. 429436 I actually went from an easy pull clutch lever to a standard clutch lever and the pull is the same.
