racer Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 (edited) advance your timing ($35 for a plate), bump your compression up ($75ish), and lighten your flywheel (60ish). easy cheap mods will significant gains. is your avatar from the boondock saints? Edited August 5, 2005 by gimmeabeer Quote
Shee-Male Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Performance filter a must, and a sproket to smooth it all out Quote
ShamRok Posted August 6, 2005 Author Report Posted August 6, 2005 yeah it is the saints. i do have k&ns on it how can i bump the compression Quote
BenBB Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 To increase the compression take the head to a machine shop and have them shave .030" off the gasket surface (assuming it's stock and hasn't already been shaved, and you'll need to remove the water neck first-just 2 bolts). I love cheap hp, 2 strokes have no competition there...and the basics are all the same. As mentioned, increasing compression, increasing airflow, advancing timing, and lightening reciprocating mass (and any other nonessential crap on the quad) are the way to go, since you already have pipes & filter you can: Shave the head Advance timing (degree key or slot the stator plate yourself) Reeds & cages (you can port your stock cages) Dial in the jetting (jets are cheap) Polish the exhaust port Smooth out castings on intake ports (not polished) Break it in carefully Quote
trex banshee Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 i blew the stock engine on my shee i am taking it you bought a complete engine. do you still have your blowed up stocker? Quote
iceman Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 can you still run pump gas if you up the compression? I thought you had to run race gas once you went higher than stock. Quote
Dunsmoor86 Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 No, you can run pump gas if you are below 160psi in which shaving the head .30 you would still be under. Quote
bansheeryder_69 Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Mill the head Jet your shee perfectly air filter gearing flywheel lightened advanced timing Quote
ShamRok Posted August 7, 2005 Author Report Posted August 7, 2005 yes i did get a whole engine and i do have the stocker Quote
