you don't have to bore your cylinders to have them ported.  I don't see why you couldn't port them with the current pistons.

True, but Big Blue also has a very good point. Besides that, if I'm not mistaken the Vito's pistons have a different cut to them which might not work well with a port job....I may be wrong, but I believe that to be the case.

If I were you, I'd run the Vitos pistons on this bore, and then when it comes time to have them bored again, go ahead and get the port work done and the pistons to match. Like Big Blue said, there's no reason to waste a bore, and I would definitely not want to risk having a fresh bore nicked on accident and then have a set of pistons you can't use; meaning you'd have to get the cylinders bored again and buy the next size up for pistons. :shrugani:

I think that would be a question for your motor builded. If he feels confedent that he can do it I wouldn't waste time. Porting is one of the mods that will give the most performance. The right port job can be night and day differnce for performance If the porter nick a freshly bored cylinder I would think that would be on his $. In the end I would leave it up to the builder you choose.

Personally I would wait for the next rebuild. Or just accept that you are gonna waste a bore. If the pistons you have are the ones I'm thinking they won't work well with a normal port job, they are cut on the front to mimic a higher exhaust port already. If it were mine I'd just wait and have it done on the next build with some normal wiesco pro-lites, just my $.2 though. I'm sure it could be done now. :shrugani:

What kind of port job do you want,or what kind of riding do you do? If you get a trail port, with those pistons it will run closer to a drag port, due to the cut dome on the super stock pistons. It will run good, but the life of those pistons are not as good as wiseco pistons .

okay.. the vitos are in fact wisecos and they will work on a dune ported bike just fine

but the port timing wont be ideal ,because itll be off due to the custom ring offsets, the vitos pistons are hogged out and really do not last as long and i dont need my sisters brothers aunt to tell me that ,ive seen it.ive ported bikes that ran vitos pistons and they do pretty good as long as they are repalced within 50 hours of riding ,hogged out lighter cut pistons wear alot more and just dont last as long ,they drop skirts too. id ru nthe pistons wit h a port as long as you plan to freshen up the topend soon.

This is one thing I never understood...... why don't guys that port cylinders also enlarge the piston ports as well to match the cyilnders?  Like I said, I don't know the exact porting specs but this just seems odd to me when Vitos sells a ported piston that actually adds power.  Am I the only one that ever pondered this?  :shrugani:

because porting out the windows of the pistons severely decreases piston life. the pistons skirts can crack very easily. thats why you dont hear of many people doing it. i personally would never run anything but a wiseco piston. i dont give a shit if vitos pistons are really wisecos. i still would buy wiseco.

Now for the Vitos made only by wiceco is BS. I bought the 404 big bore and they were junk cast pistons which did not hold up for sh!t . The super stocks are good but are a shorter piston, therefore they rock in the bore easier and crack the skirts easier.Vitos got cheap and started to let some other company produce cheaper pistons.I even talked to a Wiseco rep on this matter. So run your your Vitos pistons to long and you will find out yourself.

If you notice in the kit descriptions it says "Cast piston included" I don't care who makes the cast piston I wouldn't run it in a lawn mower if I had the option. I would have opted to run the forged version ($11 more). As for Vitos switching manufacturers, I am unsure on this and admit it. I know for a fact that up until late in 04' they were still being made by Wiseco.

As for the piston porting, that explains my question, thank you. I was curious to that matter and now I have my answer.
