While I was riding on the dunes last weekend. I popped over a steep dune and smacked into the bank on the other side and sent one front wheel north/south and the other east/west. It looked worse than it really is, but I now have a bent tie rod and end and was wondering what I should replace them with. I don't think that stock tie rods and ends can stand up to the jumping and bumps that they have gone through lately. I need something that will stand up to time, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on them.

What has everyone tried and found reliable for replacement tie rods and ends? I know that there are alot of different brands, but I figure I need to ask you all what you like and what I need to stay away from. I would really appreciate any help on this.

thanks....

I was looking at a couple different companies that have the heim joints, but don't know to much about them. What is the differences between a heim joint and a stocker?

Dune Fest, we are thinking about it if we can get a site reserved. If it was anything like Memorial weekend, we may pass on it. I really want to go, but will have to see what the Misses says.

I wrecked just like you did a while back. Except I bent the base of my steering stem so I had to replace that. I didnt have to replace my tie rods but I did replace my tie rod ends with the Tusk Tie Rod ends from Rocky Mountain. They were pretty cheap and definitely stronger than stock. You may want to take a look into them.

I've bent 2 sets 1 set being the tusk, the problem is there small dia.

My suggestion is what I did, I went to a local chassis shop (racecar chassis) and got a set made with spherical rod ends left and right thred and 5/8 chromoly steel tierods, they have mor adjustment then the stock ones and the rod enda are like 12$ ea. to replace, and if you manage to bend the tierods themselves you have other problems to worry about. Oh and ya the cost 110$ for the pair, and you use grade 8, 3/8 bolts.

cheap and super strong.

I forgot to mention that the stock tierods always bend @ the d-flat (the spot for your wrench) so do away with that.

fuckin right. i run them on both my banshees and now my project raptor...cheap and strong as hell. also, if you can get someone to make you some longer tie rods you wont bend the tie rod ends so easily. i had some made that were like 3/4" longer and i havent bent the ends yet...
