Ek17333 Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 well.. whats up every1. Got myself a little problem, lol i was riding my shee around and all of a sudden i heard a LOUD POP... (shes been giving me problems all week).. after the pop it lost LESS then 1/2 the power and it felt and sounded VERY unbalanced. Also like a HOLLOW sound. i put my hand over the left exhaust and theres NO pressure at all. i turned it off just 2 look around then started her back up 1st kick and rode it back like nothing? still messed up but just sayin worked. im pretty sure i know what it is but just wanna hear it from you guys. Also if top end is done im gonna bore her out JUST a little. Might as well since its off and im gonna pay 2 redo it. Might as well bore it out get alittle extra power. what size do you guys recomend to bore it? thanx alot! Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 i would tear the top end off and see whats going on for sure. sounds like something is for sure messed up in there. and i definetely wouldnt run it anymore. you could end up messing up the crank or really tearing up the cylinder wall bad. also, you will notice no significant increase in power by boring. boring is basically to clean up the cylinders when something happens to them. with that being said, i would just go to the next size bore for your cylinders whatever it may be. macgillivary Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 i had the same problem last week hole right under my plug in my left cylinder i drove it home too and well it was a bad idea needs a bore and possibly a new crank, i havent looked at the crank yet but im not looking forward to seeing it, hopefully only a main bearing instead of a whole new crank Quote
rocketboy Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 dont feel bad about guys ,that shit isnt a big deal ,heres a great excuse to port your jugs and while its split (crank problems only) then throw in a +4 5mm long rod stroekr crank in therewhile its apart. Quote
SANDSTAR Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Don't bore for the sake of gaining a little power. You won't get that much of a gain, and you will lose precious rebuilds. Bore if there is damage to justify it, and only enough to clean out the damage. It's gonna cost you $45-100 a jug to get a bore job, plus $150-200 for a piston kit. Do it if engine damage warrants it. If there is no damage, spend your coin on other upgrades. Rebuild time comes around soon enough. You could also spend a little of your money on typing classes. 2004LEBanshee Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 i would say go like .40 or .80 some where in there 375472 How could you make an estimate like that with out having a clue what the cylinders look like. Like said as little that is needed to clean it up thats it. Quote
NYUK Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 there is no real power to be gained gong from .10 over bore to .100 over. porting is where it`s at. just bore it enough to clean it up. 1 size . get a port job to get some real power. Quote
white trash Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 welll thanx every1! I really dont mess wit them like that to rip em apart. im not that good yet lol. Does anyone know any good shops or some1 in ny? that does a good job for cheap? 375469 To hell with taking it to a shop. Who cares if your not that good turning wrenches on it yet. Get a clymer and your toolbox and go to town. If you keep taking it to a shop your never gonna get used to working on you own machine. Its the only way to learn man. Quote
