thegroup Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 (edited) dont forget about the chain and wires r unhooked. did my 1st banshee last wk, had to put a crank in it. it was pretty easy Edited May 24, 2005 by thegroup Quote
PolyKarbon Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 No real tips or tricks to it. Just unbolt it and yank it out. If its your first time you might want to label all the the bolts wires and hoses so you can put it back together. If your doing the topend, make sure the rings are on right side up, as well as your gaskets. Pay attention to torque specs and what not. Thats about it I guess. Quote
sandman121383 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 take it out, it's more fun that way Quote
sredish Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 and make sure the chain has been taken off the sprocket.... Quote
dajogejr Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 I'd get about 6 to 10 small tupperware or coolwhip jars. Eat the cool whip first, of course...it does NOT make a good lubricant... With some masking tape, make notes of what came off, from where, etc. If you have 2 or 3 bolts/nuts leftover, that's perfect. Lighter weight means a faster shee... Seriously...my buddy had the motor out of my shee for almost 5 years. If he didn't label everything that way, he might've been hosed. (He was the previous owner..BTW, it wouldn't have been apart for 5 years if I owned it... ) Quote
BANJO Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 pull the pipes off.. drain all the fluids unless u r doing just top end then u can leave the oil in her.. un hook all wires ect.. labe if needed.. then pull it out to the right side.. im not sure about the magneto.. i think you only have to lock it if your taking apart your bottom half.. but im not sure on that 1?? peace devin Quote

bansheekid409 Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 yeah, put a jack under the engine so it wont drop when taking the last bolt out. the just lift it out the way the clymers says to. the engine was a lot lighter than i had thought, just pucked it up and walked it to the bench with out a problem.
