I decided to have the local guru around here do some work to my engine and he suggested mikuni 34mm for it when its done, I was under the impression the the pwk's gave you more power and were the norm for a swap, he wants 295 for 34mm mikuni's and 85 for intake boots, does this sound high? it seems like i can find them cheaper, my bike has port and polish, weisco's, advance timing, lightened flywheel, v-force 3, cpi's, 18cc domes and i am wondering what would be the carb to run if I swapped them out

its a matter of preference really... if you prefer carbs that wear out fast and are 1970's technology and slower ,get mikunis ,if you want real race carbs get 33 pwks by the keihin corp. :bolt:

i would check www.pro-flo.com. they have the best prices i think. i would go with keihins. i dont know too many ppl that run mikuni. most ppl om here run keihin and if you have a jetting problem more people will be able to help you out im sure if you had the keihins.

I think I paid about $135 or $140 each for my Mikuni TM34mm flat slides. If he is selling them to you already jetted for a banshee then thats not too bad. The pilots and neddle jet orafice that comes standard on the TM34's is too rich and the tubes cost about $16 ea, about $3 ea on the pilots. The mains off the stock banshee carbs are interchangeable. I think either sudco.com of proflo.com sells the carbs prejetted for the requested aplication as well so you only have to do minor jetting adjustments to get dialed. I think Magic racing.com sells the stock type carb intake manifold boots for probly a bit less. You could also fork out a little more dough and get a nice billet manifold.

 

I might go with your gurus carbs if he is selling them pre-jetted for your motor, and I don't think there is a big performance difference between mikuni flatslides and similar Kehin carbs, in fact to me it seems like the Mikunis aren't as finiky to get the jetting dialed. However, like Loco said there are probably more builders and people on the HQ with Kehin jetting experience.

To throw out one more pice of info i just scored a two to one intake, of course id dont want the two to one, but it did come with a pwk air stryker but not sure if its 34 or 35 mm, would that be too big if i just bought one more?

lectrons are the only way to go if you want easier tuning, reliabilaty and increadable power increases! check-out www.packardracing.com. Price wize, the 35-38's are around $300 each. Money very well spent.

WHAT....???? What Is ,"I" think, "or" think..... mean ???? I guess you just don't really know....????? what works period!

 

A well jetted STOCK Mikuni carb will give you a ton of great power.... A modification on a stock Banshee Mikuni carb will give you the best bang for the buck $$$$
