redcell43 Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 (edited) I bought my wife a brand new colorodo the I5vortec crewcab.i have driven it and use it to take out my banshee while my truck was in the shop. if you get the crewcab you have to leave the tailgate down whne your bike in the back if you get the normal cab im sure it will fit. great truck we have taken it to vegas and cali and even took it to glamis while my other truck was in the shop. but great little truck it drives like a 4-runner nice smooth ride. dont get me wrong with riseing gas prices make me want to get rid of my full size and buy another colorodo. but great trucks for the price. oh i lied there was one problem but it was that way when it shiped and the dealership fixed it ASAP. the trim on the top of the truck the passenger side on the back of the cab was coming up a little. but a easy fix. other than that it has been one of the best trucks i have bought and i have bought about 4 new trucks and sevrel used trucks. hope this helps i drive a 98 chevy z-71 i think i get 17mpg hwy and about 15 in town, the colorodo has to get 19 to 20 but dont quote me on that it might be better but i know im filling up twice as much as her. im going to go and buy a 01 corolla from a friends dad and ill use that to drive to and from work and use my full size for offroad and weekend use. mat Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I currently have a 2002 Chevy 2500 4x4 extended cab with the 6.0L gasoline engine and auto tranny. It has a three inch lift and 33" tires, 3.73 ratio axles. I get 10 mpg towing on the highway. 14 mpg on the highway empty, and around 11-12 mpg just running around town. I haven't been totally pleased with this truck, mostly due to some long term quality problems that took GM years to get fixed. I hope to trade it for a Ford HD with the Power Stroke and manual transmission sometime. Quote
blk02banshee Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 My boss claims to get 30 mpg in his 04 F-250 powerstroke, but he drives like an old lady. My 73 GMC 3/4 ton with 4.11 gears and 400 small block gets 18-20 mpg and my toyota 4runner V6 gets 16 Quote

Engine: Vortec 2800 I-4 is the 125hp wich is standerd. unless you are getting the offroad package and or request it. we only have the 2 wheel drive but i do have the I5 in it. no wonder she only has to fill up every 2 weeks and she has to drive twice as far. BansheeJen Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Well I just bought a new truck at Thanksgiving and love it. Drove the Canyon and Colorado, not bad a little shy on power to suit me and that was during an unloaded test drive. I'm mostly a chevy fan at heart. I dont see the I5 being around long before they upgrade it to a 6 cyl. And all in all in still feels like a s10. It rides like one and felt like it had the same interior space as one nearly. I like my dads powerstroke but that kinda truck was just way too big for me and my needs. Rides good for a 3/4 ton truck. I never thought id do it but I bought a non domestic sort of. Not one of the big four companies but still made in America. I ended up in a 05 Toyota Tacoma double cab TRD sport. In one word summarizing what I think about this truck, AWESOME would be it. Rides fantastic even though it has the sport suspension, interior is really nice, runs like a dog with its ass on fire, handles terrific(had to dodge a skunk the other night). Easily tows all my riding gear, the trailer, quad, and whatever else as fast as you wanna go without struggling. Unlike the 4.3 V6 in my blazer which was a terd. Mileage isnt what the window sticker said(22 on the higway), but I do a mix of city and hwy and its around 18-19.5 dpending on how you drive. Its like a banshee the harder you driver the better it runs, but the more gas it sucks. All in all I wouldnt think twice about buying another one in a year or two so far. I liked it also because all the trucks have gotten so boxy looking and wanted something that had some style and curves to it, this definitely fit the bill. I dont like the regular SR5 models but the TRD models are great looking trucks. Quote
MILO Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 it hits the wallet hard it costs like 260 a month to put gas in it. thats more than my insurance. i dont think i'll have a 4banger again been down that road no power at all. 351054 between my wife and i, we spent a little over $2700 in gas in '04. i'm sure '05 will be a tad more oh well, we're not gonna stop living just cuz gas has gone up. may combine some errand running and things, but that's about it. heck, i'd still like to drop a 455 in my firebird, and a 454 in my blazer gotta pay to play, as always! broke Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 My boss claims to get 30 mpg in his 04 F-250 powerstroke, but he drives like an old lady. My 73 GMC 3/4 ton with 4.11 gears and 400 small block gets 18-20 mpg and my toyota 4runner V6 gets 16 351121 We bought an 05 Excurion PD. On the highway it will pull 20-21, but I have heard with aftermarket stuff, they can pull 25-26. It still gets around 17-18 around town even with my wife letting it warm up for half an hour. I was kind of waiting for Ford to work the bugs out of the 6.0 before buying one. I will say that everyone is amazed just how fast that moster is. There is nothing better than spooling it up next to a Civic with a fart cannon on it when the see the Winney the Pooh sun shade pulling away from them. I have an 01 ZR2 S-10 that gets 15 on the highway, that thing just loves fuel. Incredibly, our 98 Blazer that actually weighted more than the S-10 pulled around 17-18. Quote
cb67rs1 Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 i have a 3500 chevy dually and i get like 19mpg Quote
demonspeeding42069 Posted April 8, 2005 Author Report Posted April 8, 2005 thanx for all the replies guys.... so many mixed ideas from everyone im still confused .... but the poll says the chevy 1500 so far soo... as for use i will be using it daily to go 40 miles round trip to work 6 days a week half highway half city to work , and towing my trailer and banshees, gear, and maybe some light off roading after while..... but i want a truck for sure so if i wanna go riding for the day by myself i can just throw the shee on the back without having to pull my heavy ass trailer for one quad.... if i get the chevy 1500 it will be crew cab , leather seats, standard engine.. v-8 maybe v-6 and some little extra trimmings Quote

In a 1500 I would only get the 5.3. Quote

leadsled Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 i have a 1999 dodge dakota R/T 5.9 limited edition.bought it used cause they quit makeing them in yellow in 99 and i wanted one in yellow. i got it in 01 great truck never had a problem with it,it has a K&N cold air intake on it and a flowmaster two and a half inch cat back exhuast.stock they put out about 250 horsepower and 345ibs of torque. think they go for about 25k but they just made a new body style so now you can prolly get an 04 R/T for cheap.in my opinion dodge makes the best trucks out on the market right now,oh my truck gets 12.9 mpg but on the highway iv had it get 17mpg i just have a heavy foot and love blowing these little ricer cars away even when i got the shee in the back i can still burn the tires like theres no tommarow Quote
