bkabina Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 If I can get mine to a dyno I will, but it isnt a priority. If I can figure out how to post a video after I get some I will. Usually the high horse power machines that run all season are triple exhaust port engines. The triple exhaust helps the rings alot so you don't have one huge exhaust port. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 i dont see one of those being any faster than a packard or grr motor. if they were fatser, wouldnt people talk about them? 336633 exactly. go over to PS and see how much they talk about passion. Quote
wesw Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 we starting another bashing session again or something?? exactly. go over to PS and see how much they talk about passion Quote
Proquad101 Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 I'm not trying t say if the passion x motor is any faster than all the other motors out there what I'm calling BS on is the running a whole season on a 120 rwhp banshee without doing anything to the top end(Rings, pistons, or boring) I have to re-ring my motor at least one time during the race season and I dont turn as many rpm's as those guys and I only race about once a month, so the x-motor is no different than anyother drag motor out there in the liability department. Quote
racer Posted March 10, 2005 Author Report Posted March 10, 2005 the cheetah guys hardly ever bore their motors. with Nikasil plating its not necessary unless you have one hard core fuck up. I can see not needing to do rings to one of these motors for a few reasons. 1. is displacement, its a lot easier to make 120rwhp on a 610 cheetah than it is to make on a stock cylinder 370. both can be done, but someone is gonna sacrifice something. second of all those guys are some tunin sumbitches. im not discrediting anyone here, but DAMN. those guys know how to get every ounce of horsepower that their machine has to offer. through countless dyno runs in their personal shops and EGT's there jetting is spot-on, always. bkabina: the X's arent tripled? whats up with that? seems like there would be a lot of power and reliability to be gained here. and what size are these motors? i said 370 cause last i heard thats what Jim was making the most of. I guess someone with the X motor should take it to the planet sand drags in Louisiana April 14-15-16 2005 Quote

jinx44 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Alright, the last time I discussed the X-motor I will be getting from Jim (which will be the highest HP version), he said some of the parts are in the process of design. Some items will have to be custom made. Jim has been very busy and hasn't had time to get the design work done. As for Passion being talked about on PS, Jim mainly builds trail, MX, TT, and ST engines. Most PS members have no interest in these types of engines. The builders you all mentioned have been building engines for years. Jim has only been in the banshee world for 2-3 years. He is trying to make a statement with the X-motors. By the way, how many times do the hear the name of the allmighty "Eric Gorr" on Planetsand. I don't believe I ever have. Quote

jinx44 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 eric gorr doesnt claim to have these "secret 4 mil x motors" that make 120hp. he just does little old port jobs for 225 that blow away other port jobs that cost double. If Eric or anyone did have these such engines, you would hear about them on PS because those guys over there would eat cat food if they thought it would shave .01 of a second off thier 300ft time. 337576 An "aggressive woods port" that turns 56HP isn't worth more than $225. The people that have the X motors didn't have them built until the end of last season. They are just now starting to get them on the track. There isn't very many of the X's out yet. The ones that are aren't the high HP time bomb version that Jim has talked about. They are still in design. As far as I know, Jim NEVER stated he already had engines turning 120HP. He simply said that is what he is expecting. Quote
FlatTrackinIt55 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 you guys need to lay off on jim, he can only do so much and cant make the time for r&d on fabbing up things for motors 24/7..he has to make a living as well so why dont we just all wait and see how they run and then yall can say what you please about them Quote
