Brian060 Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Hey guys, Now that both my brother and i have banshees, i want to make some sort of electronic alarm. I want it to go off when the doors are open'd, and trigger a buzzer or something inside the house. Has anyone done this or have any ideas? What else could i do to make the alarm work better. I was thinkin of having a very small wire or somethin hooked to the top of the door. Quote
Holyman Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 A simple yard motion detector inside the shed would work just fine. Should be easy to wire up and cheap to buy. Quote
squish Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Tether it to the ground. Go to homedepot or lowes and buy a big screw that the mobil home people use and screw it into the ground. Get your self a big chain and lock. Quote
NYUK Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 a baby monitor, for when your home. Quote
NickyPap Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Dig a big hole a make a false floor. j/k I was thinking of digging a hole drop portion of chain into and fill w/ concrete then from there chain both together. only problem is as many locks I got to slow em down a good set of bolt cuttters will slice thru all in seconds. I like the baby monitor. and if you get into motion detectors you can actually have a small camera come on -that would come in handy if your not at home. my stuff is packed in the trailer w/ the back door up against the house, lock on the hitch thing and all chained to the meter just to make a nice light show. BigRed350x Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 The motion detector isn't a bad idea at all. We use something similar in our barn. Instead of having it activate some lights just send the wires into your house and attach to a speaker of some sort. You can get a real basic setup with all the parts from Radio Shack. Just tell the radio shack nerd what you are trying to do and if they are somewhat smart they will get you what you need. Not a bad idea to put a loud speaker / siren inside the shed to scare the crap out of the person getting in. We had a neat rig inside a trailer we used to take to the dunes that would light up 6 halogen lamps right in the face of the person who opened the trailer, and a siren that went off. Blinded the person and the sound scared them and made them run. Tested it on a friend that didn't know about the setup. He tripped over a log we put behind the trailer when he heard the sound and went to run but couldn't see. Pretty funny. Choice no. 2 = put a wolverine in your shed and feed him once a week. He will go psycho on your ass whenever anyone opened the door. hahaha Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Wolverine... Those little fuckers are one mean son of a bitch. They are smart too. They will track a human for up 50 miles to find your camp and totally trash it when they do. Ran into some of them up in Alaska. About the size of a medium black lab dog and they can run fast enough to take down a caribu, strong enough to kill a bear, have claws about 2 in long, and their skin is so loose that if a predator pins them on the ground they can turn almost completely around inside their own skin. BansheeJen Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 I would also think about ATV insurance that is best of all. Usually doesnt cost that much and its a good piece of mind. Motion detectors are nice and all but if no ones home then no one hears them. Neighbors these days usually suck too, they would sit and watch your shit get stolen before lifting a finger to help prevent it. If you like locks try a snake cable, about an 1" in diameter and its jointed every inch or so very difficult to cut. I know a guy that thought his stuff was safe in his 30X40 shop all locked up too, and the thieving bastids unscrewed the sheet metal off the back wall and got in and took his quads. Some kind of pipe guard that would drop down over the door and lock in place so they cant roll them out. Here's a sample snake lock. http://www.rockymountainatv.com/Product_De...tv?pid=00039587 Quote
ellison445 Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Most reliable ATV alarm I have ever owned!!!!!! Quote

kw04 Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 use trip flares and flash bangs that should scare the crap out of them Quote

I agree about the insurance. Best thing to have. Quote
