quadfever54 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 what causes black oil to drip from my silencers. Is this from gas mix or maybe bad rings. I use amsoil at 50 to 1. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 mixture for oil to gas may be to rich, or ya may be burnin tranny oil Quote
dnhyoung Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I would say that you are runing way too rich. I would do a plug chop and then let us know. I do know that they inside of my silencers has a nice oily residue, but definitely isn't drippping oil. I personally would rather run a little rich than risk burning something up, just not that rich.....just my .02 Quote
GYTWYPT Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 A think a buddy of mine had a bad crank seal and was leaking tranny fluid into the crank area. Maybe I would definetly take a look at the plugs first. Quote
05bansh Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I think you would know if it was tranny fluid. I second what dnhyoung said. It sounds like you are way to rich. Quote
fixitrod Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 If everything else seems fine it may just be the condensation "washing" the crude out. Think about how much moisture comes from your cars exhaust. Quote
23champ Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Does it load up and smoke real bad when you're just putin' around? If so your pilots could be too rich Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 If it leaks out the right side only then the crank seal is bad and needs to be fixed before your next ride. The bearing can get loose when the seal goes bad so be carefull. Quote

I would thind that if it was condensation it woud have a milky look to it. the left side seems to smoke more when it is idling or warming up. I repacked the old toomey t4 silencers and put them on and the left side still seems to smoke a little more then the right. could this be in the carb adjustments?? the bike runs strong and does not bog down. I will have to take it out for a run down the road this weekend and pull the plugs and see what they look like. I am not quite sure of the lingo from dnhyoung about doing a plug chop, could some one explain thanks again Ray Quote

banshee tuner Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Mine will do the same thing if I put around like a four stroke but no problem at all if I ride it like it's meant to be. Quote

Maybe she loading up, run 50:1 amsoil, thinking about running the 100 to 1 at about 85 this spring. Don't really want to mess with the jetting since it has keihn carbs and was built by LRD from the previous owner. Quote
banshee tuner Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 I also run synthetic amsoil at 50:1 (good shit) and the oil problem is the shee is not meant for idling long or low rpm riding. Just ride it like you stole it and you want have that problem anymore. Quote

Just ride it like you stole it and you want have that problem anymore. its a crank seal so keep a eye on your tranny oil because it will suck all of it out if u dont watch it it will end up in the left cylinder as well thats why its coming out of both sides.and theres no way u could be that rich in your carbs unless u put way to much oil in your fuel.
