bansheeryder21 Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 (edited) My next mod is going to be a cooled head. I am wondering which one I should buy and which one is better. Should I get new domes too or just use the stock ones? I don't want my compression to be really high. Also I hear that it is really easy to install a new head and domes. I have no clue on how to do it so I need to know how step by step. Can anyone help me out here? Edited January 27, 2005 by bansheeryder21 Quote
NECK Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Just got my head and domes from dlnoss and installed them pretty quickly. Excellent customer service, too. Haven't fired it up yet due to other mods in process, but compression is there. Quote
dlnoss Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Whichever head you choose you will have to get domes. The domes are a cast-in part of the stock head. The ability to change them is one of the benefits of the aftermarket heads. You can run 21cc or 22cc domes at your elevation running premium pump gas. I would lean towards the 21cc domes. Quote

Now all I need to know is how to install the new head and domes! I have no clue on what I am doing. Can you help me out??? Do I need to do any jetting? Quote
NMBANSHEE Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Shouldn't need to change jetting but its always a good idea to check the plugs after a short ride with any mod. For installing the new head its not to hard. As much as I hate to send you to bluetraxx they do have a good "how to" on a head install. Only diference would be with the NOSS head you don't have to change the head studs, so for that reason alone I would buy the NOSS over PRO DESEIGH. ((------click here------)) Quote
dlnoss Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 The head is pretty easy to install: Drain the coolant, Remove the fuel tank, Remove the stock head, Clean the cylinder tops, Install the new head and domes Torque in at least 3 steps Add coolant....after reinstalling hoses and plugs. Reinstall tank. Re-jetting isn't usually necessary but I check it with any mod or season change. Quote
smartsshee22 Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I second that one LOCO. Dave has the best customer service around and he gets the parts to you really fast. I highly recommend him over any other cool head machinist. Ken Quote
05bansh Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I would only buy a noss head. Like everyone else said, is pro design going to give you excellent customer service? No way. Dave will though. Quote
bansheeryder21 Posted January 28, 2005 Author Report Posted January 28, 2005 Thanks for all the help!!! I am going to go with the NOSS head! Quote
05bansh Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I know you wont be dissappointed. I am going to order my noss head in the next couple weeks. Now I just have to decide which color I want... Quote
