BansheeBoy17 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 (edited) Alright my banshee fires on one cylinder , switching off on sides, and sometimes runs on both at idle, but when you give it gas it runs on one with no power... I thought it was my stator so I sent it in to ricky stator and they said it was bad , so they sent me a new one, but i just put it on and it wasnt the problem... It still does the SAME thing.. what could it be getting weak spark? I've triend new plugs... maybe coil? Edited December 31, 2004 by BansheeBoy17 Quote

Banchetta Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 Tors disconnected? If so, then try switching the plug wires and see if the opposite cylinder cuts out, if so then you have a bad plug wire or coil, if not, then you might have an air leak... Quote
willow2679 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 ir leak to me too you can test the coil and electronics with a tester (dunno how to do it myself so good luck with that) Quote
Bansheerider29x Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 could have dirt in your tank(thats what happend to me). also check your rreds i had the same problem again and thats what it was again. Quote
BansheeBoy17 Posted December 31, 2004 Author Report Posted December 31, 2004 Well I know its gettin gas, both plugs are wet and it reeks like gas after i kick it so many times... i still think its spark.. my buddies sending me his extra coil and cdi so I can throw those on and see if its one of those that went bad. Owell At least its lookin good . Quote
PCshee Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 I would go with the coil fist thing. Sounds like what happend to mine. If your CDI box goes bad u dont get spark at all. Ive had both go bad on me and im guessing its your coil from my experience. Quote
Yamahammer Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 check the grounds the new pc and paint may be keeping you from a good conection Quote
SDD Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 Do you still have the parking brake intalled? Quote
BansheeBoy17 Posted December 31, 2004 Author Report Posted December 31, 2004 (edited) I guess i should have been more specific with my story... but it started running like this during a race... I got about 7 laps in runnin fine , perfect, then i landed a jump ( a small jump too , 25 foot double) and it just started bogging with no power. That was before i tore it down to get powdercoated . As a matter of fact , the whole reason i began this damn rebuild was because it was running like shit lol and I got frustrated im like screw this i'll rebuild the whole thing. No, I do not have the parking break installed Yes, the tors are removed. I have a trinity 2into1 with a 35mm Mikuni I will still check the grounds tho tomorrow, and some guy told me to try to retard my timing maybe. Thanks for all the quick replies in one night guys Edited December 31, 2004 by BansheeBoy17 Quote
BenBB Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 I agree with Yamahammer, make sure the electrical system has a good ground at the voltage regulator (black wire with an eyelet terminal) and the coil. And like PCshee said it's more likely the coil than the CDI, when my CDI went out there was no spark at all. I would also double check the pickup coil gap and the flywheel torque, there's an outside possibility it's the flywheel itself, Banchetta had a problem with his but I don't remember the details. Good luck. Quote
willow2679 Posted December 31, 2004 Report Posted December 31, 2004 Maybe the reed petals broke like bansheerider29x said try to change the reed valves from sides and if the cylinder that runs bad is the other than before you can see if it is that. you did a spark plug test to see if it is good or not If the petals are wrong it might be hard to start (more if it is the right cylinder if I remember well) Quote
BansheeBoy17 Posted December 31, 2004 Author Report Posted December 31, 2004 Ok I worked on it today.... cleaned the reeds and messed with my pick-up... The bike starts fine when the choke is out, but bogs like a quad should do when the choke is out.... then when i put the choke in, it runs fine on both cylinders, revs and everything for about 15-20 seconds then when the RPMS start getting low it switches over the running on the left cylinder only.. then wont go back on the right until u restart the whole process i just said (pulling the choke out, etc) Quote
