trail rider Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 If yamaha "redesignes" the banshee next year, what kind of motor do you think they should put in it? Prefereably some type of street bike motor would be nice . I wish a 4 cylinder would fit in that frame . Quote
racer Posted September 27, 2004 Report Posted September 27, 2004 '05 R-1 motor? might have to extend the swinger though with 180 horse. Quote

Indubitably Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 rz500 motor with new technology and a littl more displacement, something in the 700 cc range would do Quote
sredish Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Guys, the banshee is a twin, that's what it's known as! So, maybe a 500 4 stroke twin, or a powervalved 500 twin two stroke. Quote

What about a 700 cc four banger with powervalves, double your holes and bolt ons double your fun eh? Quote
lowriderb Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 if they are going to put a new motor in the 05 shee's then they should keep it a 2 stroke, maybe start out with a better tranny and something in the 500cc twin range..fuel injection would be great but a little hard for the everyday tuner... racer Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 or they could do a little search and recon in hondas files and stick two cr500 jugs next to each other and then build a billet crank and some billet cases. add in a lil 6 speed tranny from a r-6 or something of the like and POW! fast bike. but with an aluminum frame and longtravel susp. nothing rad just 12 inches or so. 2stroker Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 rz500 motor with new technology and a littl more displacement, something in the 700 cc range would do RZ500 motor: V4 2stroke, 80+ HP stock...... and the bike stays a Yamaha. Quote
warwgn Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 pull one of the 1200cc triple cylinder 2 stroke engines out of one their snowmobiles and stuff that in a banshee, then it will truly remain the fastest( at least for awhile) Quote

KRMit Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I don't think they'll design an all new 2-stroke setup for one year's use, but dreaming is fun. On the other hand, they could go with an R6 motor using different gears. Those things rev like a 2-stroke so it would kinda keep the Banshee feel. Quote

Thats what i was thinking, all they would need to do is regear the tranny so the bike wont go 140. Quote
