ceramic coating decrease in power?

I recently acquired some PT mids, and would like to have them ceramic coated. but somewhere read that the coating retains too much heat, and effects horse power. does any-one know this to be true? I have heard the effects both ways, some people say "more" power, while others say less, I personally, don't think that it would make any difference, at all. but what do I know?

 

next question: anyone know of a good place in San-Diego to get this done?

I'm no expert on this, but I do know that some serious hot rodders and street bikers use header wrap to hold heat in the headers and this is supposed to help with exhaust flow. So I would think that the cermic coating would have the same effect.

My ex's dad is running ceramic coated t5's...no complaints. I don't believe you'll see any loss in power at all. I plan on cermic coating my PC's once they start to looking real chitty.

the header wrap did not help flow it cut down on under hood temps wich helped horse power buy a cooler intake charge..

ceramic coating works the same way it keeps the heat in and that makes it cooler under the hood. they also coat the inside wich means that the metal does not absorb as much heat so it makes them last longer.. No it will not make less hp it will make the same if not more

cool, I will have it done, anyone know a good place in so-cal, anmely san diego, or around there to do it, I checked one place, they want $150 is this a good price? just for the expansion chambers?

sounds in the ball park i know a friend that got his headers done for a car in la i will hit him up how much it cost,,

side not i know he had flames pt on them in blue the only color they had but sounded cool i will let you know tues or wed

It was $135 to have Rocket pipes coated from Jet-Jot.Was well worth the money.Should have gotten everything coated when i had it done,but i wasn't thinking.

Jet hot is a good company with a great rep but are they not in az.

ceramic coating like high temp paint RETAINS heat. does it retain enough to make a difference on a quad with an exposed engine? probrobly not. on cars and trucks it matters a bit more. even just a few degrees cooler can make a huge difference.

on auto transmissions if you can drop the temp by even 10 degrees you will vastly prolong the life of it.
