MX Black Beauty Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 I always run Castrol 20w50 oil in mine. That's what toomey recommends for their clutches. Quote
Klotzban1 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 I run Bel-ray gear saver too....good stuff. Quote
ledofthezep Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 (edited) Yepper, bel-ray gear saver. For about 4 1/2 years I ran Valvoline 10w30 without problems. Got to looking at my Dirt Digger after near a year & it was starting to wear a bit...talked with Kipp @ DTR and he suggested changing to the bel-ray because it doesn't wear on the clutch as bad as the motor oil. He said that with the stock cork clutches, you'll be fine with motor oil. So I figured I'd give it a shot; haven't had any problems since. Edited July 19, 2004 by ledofthezep Quote
Klotzban1 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 I'm with him on that answer,...good comment Led Quote
MotulMonsta Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 I run what ever is the cheapest seeing as I drain it out every two weeks. Right now I got some generic 10w40 in there cost me a 1.25 per quart. I can't see myself buying a 5 dollar bottle of tranny juice just to dump it two weeks later..waste of money. Quote
mobansheerider Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 I run Klotz Flex Drive 30, I run Barnett clutches and have a override tranny, works extremely smooth and stays clean and cooler! I use Bel Ray in my non race bikes and definitely reccommend it also, as it has great viscosity life. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Ive ran regular motor oil, the expensive 85w gear oil, ATF and have finally settled on tractor hydraulic transmission oil...yep works great seems to shift almost as slick as ATF, and it last as long if not longer than the golden spectro oil....only 8 bucks a for 2 gallons too I belive it was holyman who started me on this Quote
BansheeBrian Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 the 10w30 Castrol seems to do the trick.Cheap as hell and it doesnt lighten the wallet. I will be using it in the NEW Passion dragport stroker. Quote
