I got the ones with the most flexability in the ankle the stealership had and it still sucked, there didn't have any specifically for atv's as far as I could tell, or any street boots either. I couldn't shift to save my life and many times thought I was up-shifting but ended up being in the same gear. The rear break was not much better. It was like wearing 3 condoms or something. I ended up giving them to a friend with a dirt bike and Ive been wearing work boots. I am tempted to just get a pair of street bike boots like my Sidi's which would be perfect but I don't want to spend that much, more like $100, and I dont think sreet boots would hold up as well with all the dirt water and abuse. Tell me what riding boots work for you and if they are flexible and you can feel the shifter or if you couldn't and you had to just get used to them. Theron Posted March 17, 2004 Report Share Posted March 17, 2004 I use the ONeal Element boots, they are 100 bucks, they are not the best and hard to get used to. Every pair of boots that I have had takes a couple of months to get used to, it is like a pain. Thats why i am wearing old ragged out boots. Also put a lot of leather conditioner on them. But eventually I got used to it and wouldn't consider riding hard w/out the boots. I figure, if the boots aren't somewhat stiff, then they won't provide much protection. ledofthezep Posted March 18, 2004 Report Share Posted March 18, 2004 I have the new Thor T30's. Got them when I got my dirtbike that's now gone. They're still stiff & need to be broke in. I rode my shee once with them & the plastic melted to my headers. Pissed me off...I need to start wearing them more to break them in & get used to them. They feel good & take away a lot of vibration, great support. And I don't know that they make a specific ATV boot, rather an ATV sole that's more apt to ATV pegs. Ruko Posted March 19, 2004 Report Share Posted March 19, 2004 I have Alpine Star tech4 S boots which were supose to be made for ATVs. They are little shorter than most boots for birt bikes. They're great for me but I did have to adjust my shift lever when I first switched to them. If I remember right I moved it up one tooth on the spline. locogato11283 Posted March 19, 2004 Report Share Posted March 19, 2004 ive got the thor t30's. i like them alot. you have to wear your boots for a while before they break in and flex some. you cant just buy a set of boots and have them perfectly comfortable to you the first day. i usually walk around in mine and just ride alot with them. eventually they will loosen up. boots come stiff because they are supposed to be somewhat stiff. otherwise people would be riding in cross trainers. they are supposed to keep your ankle from rollin over after a jump and shit like that. i like the support mine give and when im riding hard i wouldnt go without them. Yeah, what the hell, I'd shell out a couple more bones for a good ATV boot. I'm still leaning towards some street boots. My sidi vertabra fit like a glove, are super lite, have feeling in the top of the foot for the shifter, and are flexible yet still provide a lot of protection, not as much as dirt boosts though, and would be perfect, but cost too much for the dirt. Maybe some cheep Cobe's. I agree that a stiff boot would provide more protection, but a missed shift that stalls me out on a steep ass hill may do me in before the broken ankel will.
