The stealership wants $700, but the place that iam checking into wants $3-500 for topend and tors kit installed. They said it would be a little over $1100 if the crank was bad.

Since its gonna be torn apart anyway, i want to have the crank checked and/or welded because i cant afford for it to seperate. I barely have enough $$ for topend thats why iam trying to make sure everything is done right the first time, cant afford mistakes.

Limited03--You did the work yourself right?

PLaynSand--i want to have the crank checked regardless, not just a topend rebuild, since its a 97 and I dunno if its original  I wish i could get it ported but i would be happy just having it run like its suppose to at this point.

Im calling the place again to ask if they would weld the crank if i insisted on it, we shall see what they have to say...

Cool , For around $700 you should be able to get crank welded , porting, bore job, and new pistons and rings, if you do the tear down and assembly yourself.

A new wiseco hot rod crank With rods..350-550 bucks.

A topend rebuild kit from Vito's with everything you need 219 bones.

Cheaper kits are availible direct from wiseco but they're not the power piston.

complete engine gasket kit from cometic 45-50 bones.

Bore and hone of each cylinder 45-60 each depending on place.

under a grand for a COMPLETE upper and low end engine rebuild

for a top end rebuild just subtract the crank price. This is a high end build not a basic re-ring and hone the cylinder build, you could get a way with just over a hundred for one of those.

The key is to do the assembling youself and hire guys only for the machining...unless you got your own macine shop..then your hooked the f*ck up.

I havent had the shee that long and ive never realy worked on one untill now so iam a bit skeptical of my ability to remember where everything goes once its time to put it back together  'course having 900kinds of nuts and bolts holding it together dosent help.

I dunno, like i said iam still checkin around.

Thanks for everyones helpfull replies, ill keep you informed on whats goin' on.

If you have a digital camera just take a bunch of pictures before you take it apart and then you will have no problem ecept looking up the torque numbers in the manual.

LISTEN UP!!!!!!!!!! Ski season is almost over. Get a top end kit, and pull the cylinders off. Have them bored and honed at a local shop. Bring everything up to my house. We'll pull the rest of it apart, and check the crank. True it and weld it up. Put it back together. You load the motor back in the truck, and your on your way. And you will be able to do it next time....... I know you can't bring the beers, and I can't be contributing to the delinquincy of peeps. But, bring the motor up, and we'll take care of it..... Don't get raped by the stealer......
