Unfortunatly indiana is a bit too far for me to travel. I would have to borrow my grammas truck and she doesnt want it going outside of the mid ohio valley/west virginia area I asked her about it today and thats what she told me. Sorry man, nice looking bike you have there too

Testing the waters right now, depending on what offers come up. I have a 1997 Yamaha Banshee with fresh rebuilt motor bored .60 over with Wiseco Hotrods crank and rods, vitos cast pistons, stock pipes, new clutch plates and springs (stock replacement-need replaced again, read below)), new waterpump seals, ITP holeshot rear tires, Full skidplates except a-arms, 2001 blue plastic with CEAT graphics kit and seat cover (looks sharp), pissed off eye headlight covers, TORS removal kit, New carb (cant remember which, think it was left), K&N air filter, airbox snorkel removed, rear brake caliper cover by maier, teather kill switch, new front wheel bearings, all new suspension bushings just over a year old, AC rear grab bar and front bumper(front bumper is bent some from previous owner) and new shifter. Have a spare rim(matches the rest) and a small box of oil for it somewere too. The bad: The key-ignition switch is wired backwards. The handlebar kill switch does not work, however the teather kill switch does. It needs 2 front tires, the ones on it are bald and need filled with air every day or two. I think it may need new clutch plates soon. Tranny got stuck in 3rd gear while out riding one day and by the time I got it home it was slipping some. A dealer went thru the tranny and fixed it (cant remember what was wrong) and I had them put all new waterpump seal/gaskets, and all gaskets on the righthand side of motor in. I dunno if its the jetting or what but it is very very cold blooded, more so than other banshees ive seen. Sometimes takes a few kicks too start but that might be from not being ran regularly. Runs fine once its warm though. Like i said, probably jetting of some sort. Motor was rebuilt about 2 years ago, has maybe 20-25 total riding hours on it since then. No good places to ride anymore, and I got my drivers license about the time I got the shee (almost 3 years ago) so I got busy with other things. I never rode it real hard, altho iam the 2nd owner I believe. HAVE TITLE. The Camaro is bad on gas in the summer so I need something to drive during the week. Looking for a yzf600, R6, gsxr600, ninja600. Mileage is not important just so its not overly high. Dont matter if its stock or not. Dont want anything over 1000cc, i dont want to die and/or pay higher insurance for a litre bike. Must be reliable. Iam located in southeastern Ohio(Marietta) by the Ohio river and West Virginia border. Would prefer someone close or someone who can meet close because I would have to borrow a truck to take the 'shee to you. Pics available. Didnt post them here because the pics are on another computer at the moment. Let me know what ya got!

Ok....I cleaned the filter, made sure the fuel was topped off and good, turned the idle screws 1 turn in, put 2 new plugs in it, kicked it over ONE TIME and.......and..........it fired right up Iam guessing it is jetted for colder weather perhaps? It seems to run like a raped ape when its cold but runs like when it gets warm out...weird. Well iam gonna go out and kiss and makeup with the Shee and piss off the neighbors, thanks again for the reply :-)

I forgot to mention in my first post, it has a TORS removal kit installed. Iam going to go mess with it now, wish me luck hehe Thanks for the reply

Greetings! Its been a while since ive checked back here. Anyway, for a little background on my shee its a 1997 with a new wiseco hotrod crank, vitos cast pistons, bored .60 over, k&n filter, airbox snorkel removed, thats about it for motor mods. The motor was rebuilt in early spring, lasted 2 weeks when I got it home and started seeing a white tint in the tranny oil, turned out to be a waterpump seal (or so the shop said, they replaced that under there warranty). It lasted another few days and started sputtering at high RPMs just as it hits the powerband. The temp outside hadnt changed at all since rebuild by the way so i can rule that out. Not long after there were some family issues and I didnt realy do much riding for about a month and a half. Well I got the shee out a few weeks ago and after filling the tank with fresh fuel (there was maybe half a gallon of old left in it) I kicked it over and it would start and idle, but as soon as I would give it any throttle one of the cylinders would die instantly (cant remember which one at the moment, think it might have been the left side). As of now, I can kick it over and it will cough ONE TIME then it wont do anything untill i pull the plugs and clean them real good or replace them, then it will cough ONE MORE time before I have to repeat the process. I did this for 4 hours continously one evening and couldnt walk the next day so I parked it and was gonna just wait untill next spring to mess with it. What changed my mind? I did a poker run a few days ago and had to ride 50 miles on ATV/4x4 truck trails in the rain and mud up to my waist in some of the ruts on my dirtbike with a bald rear tire. Yeah it was fun.....NOT. There were a few banshees there, only 1 made it more than a mile though, some didnt make it out of the staging area Sorry for typing a book for you all, I just wanted anyone who might try to help to know the background on my shee. Thanks in advance for any replies :-) I gotta get my shee running, since the poker run iam starting to get wicked thoughts of 05 predators and vforces in my head......they kicked so much @$$ on those trails we were on lol

Tranny Oil Is Overfilled And Grey
CoolRaptor2001 replied to CoolRaptor2001's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah they seem to know what there doing, one guy at the shop supposedly has been working with banshees since 'the begining'. Well, whenever my grand dads truck is fixed ill get him to drive me and the shee over and get it all taken care of. Bah, shee is down again Atleast it isent anything major i guess lol, thanks again for everyones replies -
Tranny Oil Is Overfilled And Grey
CoolRaptor2001 replied to CoolRaptor2001's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I DO know that. I let it sit for about a half hour after riding before I would check it. That should (??) be enough time for the oil to settle back down in there. I checked it last night again about 3 hours after i had been riding to make sure it had cooled down also. The shop said its either a seal or the water pump, if its the seal they will cover it 100%. Yes it is kind of milky looking, its not white but its a grey-ish color. They told me to take it back to them on monday but iam probably gonna have to wait a while because the truck we carry it in is having is own tranny problems. Iam just gonna take it back to them and have them do it that way if its messed up again its there fault. Thanks for all your replies, like i said before I dunno what i would do without this place P.S.-When I wrote "Ive checked the radiator and the little tank under the seat and (according to them) iam not loosing any." I meant according to the res. tank and radiator, not the bike shop. They havent tried any BS so far and I dont suspect them too. There well known around here so if they did it would only hurt them. -
Tranny Oil Is Overfilled And Grey
CoolRaptor2001 replied to CoolRaptor2001's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I just checked the tranny oil (first time today) and its a little above the full mark but not very grey. When I last checked last night it was right at the full mark. One thing i noticed is when this happends its overnight. I can check it 50 times while iam riding, even if i let it sit for a half hour or so to cool then check, and it will be fine. But if it sits overnight then its above the full mark the next day. Weird. I wish I had a digital camera so I could show you all a pic of it, because I saved all the oil and you can clearly see its dark grey instead of the normal black. Frocashmoney--Blacks Motorsports in Parkersburg West Virginia built it. There realy respected builders for banshee motors around here and ive never heard of anyone having a problem with them. They 'stand behind there motors' so when I call we'll see what they say. -
Tranny Oil Is Overfilled And Grey

Ive checked the radiator and the little tank under the seat and (according to them) iam not loosing any. Of course that dont mean anything it could still be burning some just not enough for me to notice. Iam calling the shop that built it soon as iam done here, thanks for the replies -
As you know, I had the shee motor completly rebuilt with new crank, pistons, all that good stuff just recently. Well the shee sat for about a week and when I went to start it up to go riding, it wouldnt start. I ended up cleaning the plugs (they were fouled) one time and pushing it down my driveway to get it started. It ran perfect the whole time. Well a few days later I got it out to ride again and when I checked the tranny oil it was WAY to full and was grey in color. I figured it was caused by it not starting a few days prior and changed the tranny oil no big deal. The next day (today) I checked it again and it was overfilled again and grey but not as bad as before. So I once again changed the tranny oil. It also was a little hard to start, had to kick about 15-20 times before it would even fire. It ran perfectly after that, and I ran it hard too just to see if it would burp or anything-NOPE ran fine. The oil was at the right level and black like its suppose to be when I parked it tonight so iam gonna check the tranny oil again tomorrow morning and if its overfilled and grey iam calling the shop who rebuilt it. Any ideas what would cause this? I was thinking gas mixing with tranny oil some how? Iam not loosing any coolant and the exhaust is normal-dosent smell like its burning coolant or anything. Any help is greatly appreciated, and if this is a retarded question iam sorry iam just paranoid since I just put $1500 into the motor not to long ago

How Many Minutes U Warm Ur Shee In Warm Weather ?

I feel your pain, just try and hold on, all the pain will be worth it when your shee is back on its wheels Mine was gone for over a month. The shop was a man short and its that time of the year thats why it took so long. Also wasted a week because they were calling the wrong phone number, I wrote a 4 but it looked more like a 9, my fault

I only had about 5 hours ride time on it before I did a compression check and found out it needed rebuilt so I cant say for sure about the gains from the vitos pistons compared to stock since I dont have much experience with either. It has more power everywere compared to before it was rebuilt. Its not a night-and-day difference, but its very noticable. It revs alot quicker and gets into the powerband almost instantly. Its also alot easier to ride since theres more power. I had it in some tight technical trails this evening and it did great, even though banshees arent none for there trail riding ability. My grand dad on his trailboss250 jokingly acted like he was gonna drag race so I went WOT and almost soon as I did I hit a gravel patch....sadly, he became a victim of banshee roost, bigtime I changed the tranny oil before I went riding today and put a case saver that I got for christmas on it. I had to grind off a part inside of the stator cover in order for it to go back on after the case saver was installed, is this normal? Iam gonna miss riding tomorrow though, me and a friend from church are gonna go play some paintball. Be sure to keep us informed on how your rebuild goes!

When I asked what pistons they were gonna use they just said Vitos so I assumed they would be there forged pistons. My mistake, its fine by me though since its still stock its not like its gonna be a 80horsepower motor or anything. Ill probably check and see if I can have forged pistons put in whenever I have it re-ringed(1-maybe2 years). I was more concerned about the crank that was in it, and sure enough it was replaced. Goodluck on rebuilding your sons shee I would have tried to do this myself but ive never even messed with a banshee motor so I thought it would be best to let a pro do it lol

This post has no point realy, just thought i'd give you all a update on finally getting the 'shee fixed. Just picked it up this morning from the shop, has new hotrod crank, new left carb body, TORS removal kit, now bored .60 over, vitos pistons (cast ) and some misc electrical trouble was fixed. They said it was pretty much broken in but they recommended I start it and let it get hot then shut it off and let it cool a few times anyway. After doing that once it started smoking a little out the right side pipe untill its good and hot, but it runs perfectly so it cant be anything too serious lol. I think the shop killed my rear shock when they had it because now i can press it all the way down with one hand and its realy realy squishy. The little knob on the res. has no affect now either. Other than that iam happy havin' it back and cant wait to log some more hours tomorrow. Supposed to be in the 70s the weather channel said. PERFECT riding weather. Maybe now I can start buying go-fasteER stuff for it instead of rebuilds I brought all the spare parts home, mostly junk like messed up TORS, stripped carb body, and the old pistons. The shop said the crank was useless and they didnt think it could be rebuilt, but iam gonna keep it anyway incase I find out it can be or maybe use it as core or something. This has been a BNN news update.

Atvs That Do Not Use Oil Mixing
CoolRaptor2001 replied to xt45's topic in General Banshee Discussion
All 4-stroke ATVs. No iam not going to list every one sorry EDIT: Look in your "2 Strokes Versus 4 Strokes" post and read up on how the 2 and 4 stroke motors work. That will explain why 4 strokes dont need premixing. -
I just use regular yamaha 10w30 4-stroke oil that I use in my bike. Most oils are OK just so its not synthetic (does something to clutch) and not made for better gas mileage or something .

(you forgot reverse & oil injection ) I own a trailblazer250 also and can say ive had no major problems with it. All ive done is broke the chain once and the headlight burnt out recently. As for the scrambler400, there pretty good too ive heard. There alot faster than most people think thats for sure. Theres actually ALOT of aftermarket parts for polaris atvs, you just have to know where to look (www.hpd-inc.com, www.hotseatperformance.com, etc etc). The scrambler has more features than a shee but a shee has more potentiall if you want to call it that when it comes to mx or something simular. The Scram is great for XC or just trail ridin, and with some aftermarket parts can be quicker than alot of atvs youll meet on the trail. I knew a guy who raced a stock polaris sport (same as scrambler) in MX and did alright with it, in the open class with 400/300exs at the time. Iam just going by his word though, I didnt actually see it. Hope that helps P.S.-Love the new faces

And we wonder why ATV'ers have such a bad reputation.....
