Well I have reached out to both cam and Louie swan and I plan on taking my cylinders to Louie this upcoming weekend for him to do some port work on them.

Ask for a time frame for completion.

Better stick with racing the 60hp raptors.

Well my last build was a 4mm stock cylinder with a trail port and PT mids and every decent pass I was just a hair behind him so I’d imagine my build. I’m working on right now would fair pretty well.

He told me about a week

Sheeiitt took 3 months for a trail port a few years back from fast. Id imagine things are longer now. Ain't no way a turn around time in a week

That’s what Louie told me. But I’m not a one time customer for him. He’s made some $$ off me and my dirtbike motors. He built me a 300cc YZ on race gas I used for motocross just last year.

Your telling me this "95hp raptor" was just a hair ahead of a 65hp stock cyl banshee?  I stand corrected.  Your billet ported 90hp serval should keep up. Especially if its got those SICK smart carbs bro.

I wasn’t in the room when it was dyno’d so that’s why I threw il the quotations around “95hp” the first time around. It won’t be billet either just the cast CP cylinders and I’m only going with the smart carbs for ease of use and the extra $$ is fine with me

While the top end screaming power would be cool id really kick myself if i left myself with little to no roll-on.

It all depends who ports it. When the Serval’s came out guys like Cam and Jeff were both posting dyno results of porting that netted gains all around with just tunnel clean up, re shaping and better angles. No duration changes. All torque and HP. No loss down low. Similar results on smaller in frames and in frame drag pipes.

You want bigger carbs and pipes that are made specifically to do what you’re saying you don’t want. Smart Carbs really aren’t cracked up to what the advertising says, and Shearers are a top end in frame drag pipe. Are you chasing a magical number or are you setting it up for digging out of tree shots?

There is so much R&D out there that folks know what does what and if it’s ported right, you won’t lose anything down low, in fact you’ll gain everywhere.
Snipers on Servals have proven to make more bottom and top than the Shearers, although if you want it more for tighter technical riding, the CPI’s you mentioned would be great, but you might need to track down a big bore set or make new stingers.

Good to know. I did end up tracking down some CPI in frames and I was recommended to do small bores which is what I got. I also do still have a set of 35mm PWK Keihin so I could try in comparison to the smart carbs. And after talking to cam he pretty much said the same as you that he can gain power pretty much everywhere with virtually no loss. As for the number I’m not really chasing a magical one I just kinda want to build a all around good running bike top and bottom end.

Youre taking your ford to a chevy shop.  Goodluck

Well I’ll let you know how it goes. Louie dune ported my first set of cylinders I ever had done up on just a 350 which I was really happy with how they turned out and he did a killer job on my YZ motor. Worst case if I hate the motor I’ll build myself a 496cc or whatever a 7mm and 72mm bore makes cc wise.
