Fisher Posted October 28, 2025 Author Report Posted October 28, 2025 I would also like to clarify 85% of my riding at the dunes is spent down in tree shots and the other 15% is racing other bikes. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 28, 2025 Report Posted October 28, 2025 I don’t know why you’re still here asking questions. You asked. We’re telling you. You don’t seem open to the idea that you’re wrong. Quote
Fisher Posted October 28, 2025 Author Report Posted October 28, 2025 You guys are just saying words with nothing to back them. You claimed the motor won’t run well, I asked why, you didn’t respond. To me this site just seems like a bunch of over weight middle aged guys that want to shove their opinion into everyone’s faces and nothing at all to back up their words. My original post the main question was a rough idea of horsepower. You continue to tell me I’m wrong when I am doing exactly as expressed by the owner of top dog racing. At the end of the day my motor is gonna be more tailored to bottom end roll on power, which porting does the opposite of provide. I would love to hear why I’m wrong if anyone has an actual answer with reasoning behind their statement rather than just a strong opinion on the fact I’m incorrect. Quote

SKEETER Posted October 28, 2025 Report Posted October 28, 2025 Ive rode a 90hp raptor, and a 115hp ported 7mm serval. No matter what you do with a serval of your size, are you going to beat that bike. Your engine would make more, better, usable power and be faster in a drag race, if you sent it to a builder thats done 5x the builds as the guy you stopped in to see. Tylers engines came from the guy you should have set it up. Quote
caleb90 Posted October 28, 2025 Report Posted October 28, 2025 Who TF is "top dog racing" Prob told you not to port them because he doesn't know how to port them. Quote
Fisher Posted October 29, 2025 Author Report Posted October 29, 2025 “Top Dog Racing” AKA Cascade innovations. Fairly known company in the banshee world, at least in Oregon. They’re more then capable of porting cylinders since I’ve had them do up 2 other sets. Quote
SKEETER Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 Shawn is more than capable, yes. But your leaving an easy 10+ usable hp on table and more experience with those. Lets not get into redline being better, hes proven. By all means have dude slap it together, but I can assure you you will be disappointed at the end result, with that raptor. Quote
Fisher Posted October 29, 2025 Author Report Posted October 29, 2025 Yeah I could definitely see how I’m leaving a bit of hp on the table. I was thinking I’d throw the motor together and run it for a season and then if I want more have some porting done to it. I’d rather have to tear it down and do some port work rather then over-port for my style and want to start with fresh cylinders. You think just a dune port paired with the CPI’s would kill to much bottom end? Quote
Fisher Posted October 29, 2025 Author Report Posted October 29, 2025 While the top end screaming power would be cool id really kick myself if i left myself with little to no roll-on. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 It doesn't even make sense to build a 7mm. 10mm crank is the same money and takes the same work to build it. Your builder should have told you that. A 10mm Serval ported by someone that has built many of them is a much better idea. You'll only gain power off idle and you'll also gain power on top. CPI or Sniper will work well with a set of 35mm PWK. Those Smart Carbs are junk. I'd be calling Redline for this motor. Cam has built a ton of these. Quote
Fisher Posted October 29, 2025 Author Report Posted October 29, 2025 Only reason I’m going with a 7mm is because the bike already had the crank in the motor, so I had the crank rebuilt and I plan on re-using it. As for the porting I reached out to Cam last night and he recommend I port it, I didn’t he realize he is no longer in Oregon so I plan on talking with Louie at twister cranks seeing if he can do anything for me port wise just because he is very local to me. As for my engine builder that is me. I’ve built every banshee motor I’ve ran but I try to stay loyal to a few shops for certain parts and custom work such as porting. I’m also not sure about past smart carbs but I have a close buddy that ran the most recent iteration of them (SC3) and he was very pleased in the performance of them, ease of tuning and how closely they came tuned to his motor out of the box. SKEETER Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 Jfc dude. Yeah, take your cast cyls, to a guy thats made a name putting billet cyls on everything. You got the best advice you can get for your situation. Ship cam the f'n cylinder and anything else he needs to set it up for your assembly. Done. let us know who has a better reputation on ported servals. Sure as fuck ain't either of the 2 you are planning on. What's hilarious is top shit didnt inform you on a serval gaining power everywhere from being ported correctly. But he builds motors for show bikes, and guys with more $ than sense normally. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 Like I said… came for info/advice. Listening to absolutely zero of it. Quote
SKEETER Posted October 29, 2025 Report Posted October 29, 2025 Its like talking to 33yr old john green about stock reeds in a turboed stock cyl LOL Quote
