06 banshee 2023 Posted August 29, 2024 Report Posted August 29, 2024 I have a 2001 banshee that I restored last year, the only modification to the engine is that it has a bore which was there when I bought it, don’t know how good it is. Other than that, I have t5s, pod filters, some taiwanese 28mm pwk carbs from a company called maikuni (not mikuni). What would be the cheapest hp gain mods to do next? I was thinking a cool head. gusto Posted August 29, 2024 Report Posted August 29, 2024 The Chinese carbs always cause problems . beat bang for the buck is a port job to match your pipes, new reeds v force or pyramid. No need for a cool head, shave your stock head. You’ll notice big gains. if you have more money get a striker crank for an extra 7-10 hp 1 Quote

What do I need to tell them to do. also, I feel some smoke coming out of where the cylinder joins the pipe, I think it’s because there’s no spring hook so one of the springs r missing. Does this effect performance? Quote

HeavyHauler Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 Get yourself a Coolhead with 19 - 22cc domes. Get some GENUINE V-force 4 reeds and a good quality adjustable timing plate . Stay away from the cheap counterfeit chinese knockoff stuff. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 5, 2024 Report Posted September 5, 2024 You can get your head shaved through any of the reputable site sponsors on here…. They can take care of that while they do your port work Quote

I want to find someone good at shaving the head near me, I think it would take some time. So I want to get the timing plate on before that. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted September 6, 2024 Report Posted September 6, 2024 Your bike will run +4 timing fine without any more modifications. There are different amounts that can be shaved off the stock head….. that’s why I say to send it with your cylinders to a site sponsor. These guys have been doing it forever and will be able to shave the head to what your motor is ported for. Take too much off because you had a regular machine shop do it, and you could be asking for a nightmare of problems….. like detonation, improper squish, etc….. Quote
