Whos selling the power valve cub cylinders

Cam, I agree with you. The problem is that not many builders seem to even want to touch them. Then there is the whole thing about the intakes being too big for the cylinder. I think it's bs considering that the dm's are running bigger intakes. There just doesnt seem like there is a lot of info on them out there and the people that do have info for the monster cheetahs don't want to share even a little bit of info. The serval seems to have a ton of testing on them and a lot of the bugs were worked out from having the cubs out for so long.

I would love to get these cylinders massaged a little and put it on a dyno

i have told a few how to set up the exhaust with the valve  and even then they get scared and dont do it because its not the "norm"

i did a 400 pv with a 207 open degree exhaust..   it wouldnt bog with 14 extreme stagger's on it..

the intakes are not too big..  i have heard that some say the super's intakes are too small..  the pv cheeta's also mostly use a lot less jet and can be more efficient in their burn. i personally believe it is the larger intake size and the larger flow draws a better signal through the carb.

That's weird about the smaller jetting. With my 39 pwks I'm at 50 pilot and 178 mains.

So who are the top pv builders?

The only two that I know that will work on them are Andy at no limit powersports (old m&m) and wildcard. Wildcard is out of the business now.

I'm sure there are others out there but no idea who does them.

About a year ago I talked to Cam at redline and he said he doesn't mess with them.

  • 3 weeks later...

umm  i have built many pv cheeto's..  hence the long response posted..

right now i am actually starting to play around with the so called dinosaur trex cylinders  have 3 of them now  a ???? stroker  working on a building a 535 10 mill  and going to be doing a 400cc turbo in the next year or 2..

they have a better head design and very strong cylinder but the porting layout is far far from optimal..

I would have loved to buy that 468 t Rex setup that's in the classifieds and built another.

Like cam said, it took a bit of work, but my dinosaur 421 Rex also seems to run pretty damn good now that I have a real set of real pipes on it. I'm used to porting car heads, so to me the port work was minimal effort in comparison to a 16v head.

I'll know much more once I toss a wide band and on and go for a tuning session. Going to change from alpha n tuning to Itb mode which is speed density down low and alpha n up top. Should cure the couple funny transition areas I'm not 100% happy with. My valve open timing is 203-204° exhaust and 134-135° intake. Valve down its 195-196°.

Yes. Cheetah..... Just Cheetah, is pretty much a cub cyl with power valves and 250r intakes.

Cheetah

Cheetah cub

Serval cub

Wampus cub

Wampus serval (wampus cyls are meant to look stock)

Super (means 72mm bore in any of the above combos)

DM (74mm-80mm ish)

DMX (80+ mm)

Then you get the real monsters Jmadd mentioned which are all spread bore and even larger bores then the DMX. Spread bore means the cylinders are located further apart then stock. That allows them to make the transfers larger to feed the larger motors.
