ghott Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Sand track this past weekend had a gravel/shale return lane and I ended up with a nice leak in one of my smooth buff 18.5" front tires. I found a small pin hole on the top of the tread this evening thanks to some soapy water. I did some searching but couldn't find much info...wondering if its ok to try and patch/plug this - or should I go ahead and get a new tire? Quote
mailman Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 I have had luck putting a patch on the inside. I got the patch from Napa and the vulcanizing glue. Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 I plugged a 2ply AMS sand front tire. Did it at the dunes as a last ditch attempt to keep riding for the weekend without buying a pair of tires there. It's held air for 2 years now, very surprised at that. Quote
ghott Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 Thanks for the input. Will try and either get a small shop to patch it or just patch it from the inside myself. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Patch it from the inside^what he said. Quote
ghott Posted July 18, 2014 Author Report Posted July 18, 2014 Patch on the inside seems to have done the trick. Thanks again fellas. Quote
