Orris Edwards Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 i have a 2001 banshee bored 40 over, toomet t5 pipes, and vforce 4 reeds. i blew my clutch apart so i went in and repaired that, then i took it for a ride and it start smoking like crazy out of the right exhaust, i was reading on this thing and someone said it was the right crank seal so i tore my motor down and replaced that, cleaned up the whole inside and put it all back together. i took it for a ride on and off for about 2 hours and everything was going fine then i was coming to a stop and the motor made a weird noise like metal to metal and everything shut off then the kick start wouldn't move at all. i know i have to tear the motor down again but i just want an idea on what the problem may be. Joeladm Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) Sounds like it's seized up, pull the heads and see if there is any scarring on the cylinder walls. Edited June 10, 2014 by Joeladm Quote
hp2000 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Pull the clutch cover off before the top end maybe the basket broke or the kicker gear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
sheerider11 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Probably the idler gear or something on the clutch side 1 Quote

4wh331in6 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 I've had the spring slip out and lodge in gear preventing you from kicking that was on a dirt bike not sure setup is the same but worth a look pull clutch cover Quote
Strm Trpr Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Did you do a leakdown test to ensure you didn't have any air leaks when you reassembled the motor? Quote
paultrombley98 Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Same thing happened to me I was coming to a stop and it made metal to metal sounds and I tried to kick it over and it was seized. I turned out to be the right side rod bearing. Took it apart and the right rod wouldn't moved because the bearing was destroyed. Sent from my One X using Tapatalk Quote
trickedcarbine Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Pull the clutch cover first since you've had known trouble there. Then check what's in side the motor. Quote
Orris Edwards Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 thanks guys. i went and took the motor out because i was for sure it was the tranny and i took off the stator side and one of the screws to hold it on was loose and grounded out the stator. once i tightened that up everything worked fine so i put it back in and added +2 full flight a arms and a +2 tusk axle.
