tdod101 Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Alright might be changing my mind on my 421 build. Still going with the 4 mil hot rods crank but what has more power and where. Serval or cub ? Can you make a 421 with a cub ? I just don't know what the damn difference is Quote
RobertR Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Port timings are all that is different serval has lower port timings the a cub. Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 All we really need to know is what kind of riding you do.. Tight trails? Fire roads? Dunes? Sand dragging? Motocross? Quote
tdod101 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Report Posted January 3, 2014 Dunes / easy forest trails with hard pack dirt / and light sand dragging if I end up going to silver lake this year Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 4mm Serval = 421cc With the right parts you can make 85HP on pump gas.. CPI, 35mm PWK, V-Force reeds and porting. Quote
lms1977 Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 yep serval would be your best bet imo Quote
mhoksch Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 7mil cub Why stop at 7? I say go for the 10mil Sent from my XT901 using Tapatalk now Free Quote
trickedcarbine Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Op says duning, easy trails and sand drags, to me that all sounds like a cub would get it. Not sure why every one says serval? By easy trails, you mean nice and open? Quote
oldskool Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 Why stop at 7? I say go for the 10mil Sent from my XT901 using Tapatalk now Free Please don"t give him more choices. Tdod, get the cub and learn how to ride it in the trails. Wide open places, no problem Quote

By easy trails, you mean nice and open? Have you ridden/owned both motors? I've owned/ridden both with a couple different set ups and the Serval would hands down be my choice for what he's going to be doing with it. Quote
possum Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 if you care at all about winning drag type races then cub cause it will yank on top. if you dont care to get beat by 350s in a race but get around the trails easy get a serval. if you want something in the middle get a ported serval with the timings bumped up a lil. imo Quote
