421 Serval , Overrated?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

First and foremost I want to explicitly stress I am not a banshee guru as some are, but feel I do have some experience with the Banshee. Now, I recently built a 421 serval from FAST. Currently running 35PWK, PC Pipes, V3 Reeds, Pods, lock up clutch, 14/41 gearing,+2 A Arms,+4 Timing , 160m/48p , CEL 3rd from top. Carbs synced with fast tool, runs real nice. Problem is its, not that fun to me anymore. I know it seems odd, but I was expecting to push the throttle, and feel like I was going to flip. Just hasent happend! Now in month four.

After upgrading from a stock banshee with pipes and reeds, it seems to me that stocker was more fun to ride. Now, i suspected it was me, so I raced my uncle with his stock with pipes and reeds banshee, and completely destroyed him by 3-4 lengths, but yet still his quad feels more tourqey.. I don't get it, am I expecting too much? When I ride his banshee it almost feels like it wants to toss me off, yet he doesn't stand a chance against me in a race! Could it be I'm just spinning tires, my extended a arms, why am I not in awe like so many of you serval owners? Please note I would never give it up, I love it...but I just feel like my thousands of dollars invested into upgrades , the serval seems a little tame. I need to ride a serval that is complete done up and compare, unfournateley I just don't see many where I currently ride. Maybe it's just me, who knows. Sorry for the long rant.

Eric

your blowin your tires off.  Watch it happen every time i ride.  I ride a dune/play port from FAST, fmf's and a few bolt ons and my buddy runs a 421 serval from FAST.  Every single time we just cruise down a dirt road we always wind up messin with each other.  Always winds up leading to us givin it hell and seeing who wins.

I manage to keep up side by side to him up until the bottom of 5th.  That's only because whenever he hammers it i watch him just spin and spin up til 4th.

I believe next time we go riding he is going to raise the front gear one tooth to give him a little less low end grunt and try and trade it off to the top end some.

Something is up with your setup, these guys are prob right about blowing ya tires loose, I've ridden 2 servals

Ported and stock cast and it's a huge difference vs a bike with bolt ons!!

Servals I've ridden had no problems ripping the tires off the ground in 4th gear!!

Post some more details on your setup!!

try it in the sand with good paddles.  not gecko's

in all reality the bonestock banshee made power in very low rpm's. (3500-7500) its closer to a boring 4 stroke than a built banshee with power in the upper rpm's.. ( 7500-11,000) or serval with around (5500-9000 rpm)  thats probably the main difference you are "feeling".

I think you're right. Because no matter what at the end of the day, i don't think anyone can compete unless its a bigger Banshee. Thanks to all for replies thus far,,,
