Fast_quad_03 Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Everytime i drop out on the clutch, it seems like its slipping a little. Once its moving it stops (sometimes itll slip if i randomly brapp the throttle) the motor is new, its a 4mm with a dune port, wiseco pro lites, vf2 reeds, pods, hinson basket (new) barnett dirt digger clutch (also new) 21cc domes, 30okos +5 timing t5 pipes 22" xct rears, 15/41 gearing etc. Is it time for a lockup? Fast_quad_03 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 What oil? New PP or hub? I've also heard people saying they've had bad luck with there clutches. Basket and pressure plate. I run 10w40 motor oil in the clutch. Quote
possum Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 how do you know its slipping? swap springs out and go from there. Quote
Fast_quad_03 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 I built the motor. It was a stock stroke, it had a crank seal go bad so i upgraded to a 4 mil. I got the basket, plates, and pressure plates, with hd springs from rockymountain or denniskirk. I know its slipping because when i drop out on the clutch lever, it feels like its spinning (what i actually thought the problem was) but it dont spin at all. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 I run 10w40 motor oil in the clutch. Could you be a little more specific? Quote
Fast_quad_03 Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 Could you be a little more specific? sorry, i run penzoil 10w40 engine oil. Change it every 6 hrs Quote
BeeCanBanshee Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Could be the oil. I had disengagement problems with certain oils. Honda hp and belray works best for me. Just curious but why would you use motor oil in a transmission instead of trans fluid? Also just my personal opinion but you shoyldnt have to change the fluid every six hrs. Try some trans fluid and see if it helps. Quote

He recomended klotz to mix the gas, and penzoil for the clutch. I didnt know it was bad. Quote
sstaton1983 Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Ford ATF always worked well for me. Quote

It will ALL work, just be sure it does NOT have "friction modifiers" Out of this group on here, EVERY oil ever made has been tried and everyone has a preference, with varied results. Quote
BeeCanBanshee Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 I do not know they called for motor oil. And very true on personal preferences.... And again my opinion but yamalube sucks. Hard shifts, missing gears etc. It all cleared up once I switched to belray or something better. But I would think also that if the oil he's using now isn't made for wet clutch use it would also cause problems. Hell they probably called for motor oil back in the 80's and never updated the manual to show that you would have better results with a trans fluid. Also if your not letting the oil warm up completely its could cause problems until its warm. If I start my bike and put it in gear with out letting it warm it would stall. Quote

I run klotz's trans fluid (syncrodrive????) And its awesome. Great shifts and butter smooth operation. I peraonally run a FAST clutch and springs and its awesome! Quote
