97 Banshee No Start After Jetting
Spanks906 replied to Spanks906's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Forgot to say I ckecked spark while the plugs where out. Pushed it over by hand and looked, spark is good. -
I rebuilt my motor last year with new crank, pistons, the works (no porting as the cash wasn't there). T5 pipes, tors delete and k&n filter with outerwears. I jetteted it fat to not burn it down, now with 6 gallons of gas through it and I feel the rings are properly seated. So I took my shee to a reputable tuner who did a good job on my raptor and a friend's kfx 400 since I didn't have time to tune it. Picked it up Friday, rode it at his place and ran awesome. Loaded it into my truck (fuel off) and drove the 8 miles home. Pull it out if the truck and it was running only on the left side. Take it back over, float was stuck apparently. Picked it today, rode great again. Put it back in my truck and drove home again. Take it out of the truck and it ran on both cylinders for 10-20 seconds then died like someone hit the kill switch. It wouldn't start so I pulled the plugs, shut the fuel off, killed the ignition, then proceeded to kick the shit out of it to clear it out. Then let it sit for 20-30 minutes in 70deg weather to help clear it out. Put plugs back in still nothing, doesn't even attempt to fire. Repeated the process but put new plugs in. Then kicked it. Nothing. Kicked it 15-20 times. Pulled the plugs and there was no fuel on them. Just a faint gasoline smell. It has fresh ethanol free premium (91 octane) mixed 40:1 with AmsOil Dominator. In the morning I plan to drain the bowls by standing her on end then try full choke and wide open to see what happens. I'm hoping someone with more knowledge will chime in. Thanks, Brad.

Doubt it. His will ride better and be much stronger. I give you props on design idea but it looks like a death trap.

Best shocks/a arm combo for the best ride quality?

The back seems decent on travel and I don't "need" anything long travel. Just doing it for a great ride quality and if I turn into a big jumper it's there. -
I just rebuild my bike (stock motor) and am doing suspension first. Already lots of power

Yes but you asked what is a better place for cash. Without knowing this info I suggested the motor. Next logically is suspension. New, not stupid.

Thanks. I'm going to be doing the lobo 2 roll design long travel kit with axis more than likely. Best of everything. -

What do I tel said guy building my shocks? "Hey Bob. Do a good job. Thanks, bye." I have no clue about buioding shocks. I will say this about adjustability, high/low speed compression adjustment is nice for cornering and bumps since they can be adjusted seperately. Something cheaper shocks don't have. -

I like to get them rebuilt and checked out often. Im just that guy that if it can break it will. Also off season gets boring without something to wrench on other than Arctic Cat's screw ups!!! -

Remote ressi or piggy? I don't care which as long as I can get the plush ride kit since it will start as a trail cruiser and as my confidence grows ill get gutsy. Hard part is going to be convincing my insurance company that a 1997 banshee is worth $10k. I've got $4k in it now with the fresh rebuild and stuff now (insured at $4k atm) -

Still haven't decided if I want long travel. I'm not a jumper BUT it is nice if I turn into one. With the best shocks I think I would since I know the landing would be buttery smooth. And LOBO? new to these terms so bear with me haha. I'm guessing a brand. If I piece it together I'd buy fronts now and the rest a year or two down the road so it should be time for a rebuild anyway??? -

Very true. I do value your input since I'm a shock noob. I have set my budget at $5000 but not all at once. I'm picking fronts up this season, then arms and rear next. I will send my shocks to axis to get them lengthened and revalved/spring for the long travel front end. I've chosen LSR dor the LT front. Axis seems to get rave reviews everywhere so that's whose getting my cash. Although I've really really thought about evols since I love them on my 2012 high country from cat. I like to ride hard but I take damn good care of my stuff. Thanks for all the help everyone, Brad. -

That's what I have noticed also. Right now I can't deside between stage 5 elka, custom axis, and fox evolx -

Thanks. Ill look at some cheaper axis and stage 3 elkas then. I like the all black of the axis since it works with my bike. -

Stage 3 elka and +2+1 standard travel arms? I was kinda looking for something in black since the bike is grey/blue/black but red won't be terrible. -

I mainly ride trails and I don't do nothing crazy. I don't jump anything huge. I am doing this for the best ride possible. I like the 100% hand made part of axis. Anything about exit? Thanks, Brad. -

I do like the stage 5s but the custom axis are getting rave reviews. I want high/low speed compression adjustment and rebound adjustment minimum. The elka stage 3s don't offer rebound. -
Best shocks/a arm combo for the best ride quality?

Another dumb question. Standard length is 13.75 ctc while long travel is 15.75ctc (lonestar). Will it hurt the shocks to eun the longer ones on the shorter stock arms or ahould I just send them back to custom axis to have them lengthened??? I am guessing the latter.
