The DMX ended up running low 3.60s & a couple high 3.50s in the 300'. This wasn't the intended purpose for the motor, but it kind of went that direction. I misspoke about the DMX 300' times. Angel reminded me that it ran consistent 3.50s in 300' & went a best of 3.51. The mph was in the low 90s with a best of 93. Here's one of our 1st test hits with the DMX . Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted January 14, 2025 Author Report Posted January 14, 2025 Been busy with race shit, getting 3 race vehicles ready for the racing season starting the end of Jan. We're hitting the streets/Mexico again with the DMX this coming weekend. I think we will be better prepared this time for traction, we'll find out. The only drawback is the rider. My 6'3" boy weighing in at 290 lbs. 😮 Hopefully, I remember to video the shit. Thee one & 1700camaro/STY! 😛 Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted January 19, 2025 Author Report Posted January 19, 2025 We got some testing done on the streets of Mexico today. My big son was riding today. This video is a short hit to around 300' getting into 3rd gear. As you can hear we had a Bogg on the 1-2 shift. We made 4 hits today & the last one we got it right. We never got it to hook in 1st gear, but it got better as we lowered the tire pressure. The last run was pretty darn good for the street & ran it through 4 gears. The plugs showed fat & will wait to lean the power jets out once we get some 1/8th mile runs on it. Next weekend we are headed to the track for the 1st TnT & some time slips. Thee one & only 1700camaro/STY! 😉 Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted January 28, 2025 Author Report Posted January 28, 2025 Testing this past weekend at the track went pretty well. We were about .2 slow on the ET than I wanted for the baseline runs & the MPH was slower than wanted also. Overall, it was a good test session with my 6'3" son/sail weighing in at 290 lbs. The final gear ratio was off 1 or 2 rear teeth. The carbs are rich & the clutch was set-up for the street, not the track! Most of testing from now on will be done on the streets of Mexico, Thee one & only 1700camaro/STY! 😛 Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted February 11, 2025 Author Report Posted February 11, 2025 Need to give the infamous DMX some love. We installed a new Matton Machine billet clutch cover today. Very nice piece for this old, experienced clutch tuner! Thee one & only 1700camaro/STY! 🤫 Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted February 25, 2025 Author Report Posted February 25, 2025 The new billet clutch cover is great, wish I had it years ago! We raced the DMX a little over a week ago & improved our time by a .10 with just a gearing change. We're a racing it this weekend 1/4 mile. We're going to use a 1.84 rear gear ratio, unchartered territory! The Kingman Street Drags was cancelled & we are going back to 1/4-mile racing. Thee one & only 1700camaro/STY! 🙃 Quote

It was an early exit in the 1st round on Sat. Sun. we had the 1.94 final ratio installed. It worked well & we made it to the semi-finals. Thee one & only 1700camaro/STY! 😁 Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 30, 2025 Report Posted March 30, 2025 I bet your neighbors love you. Haha. Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted April 21, 2025 Author Report Posted April 21, 2025 Neighbors don't mind & we don't abuse the privilege. We live in a rural area & the town is off road ATV, UTV & motorcycle friendly. We were just discussing what to do with the DMX. When they cancelled the Kingman Street Drags, it kind of took the wind out of our sails. The priority has always been the drag car/Camaro & the quad shit is kind of the Stepchild. We need to figure out something to do with it, other than being a conversation piece. Thee one & only 1700Camaro/STY 👽 Quote

Not as much 1/4 mile, but I think once 4.5’s are common and the crowd wants a new challenge, I bet you’ll see mire 1/4 mile racing take off. Quote

Yep, we have been following & the 1/8-mile numbers they are putting down are insane! Who knows if they will go 1/4 mile or not. It's pretty hard to keep them alive that long under power. I would like to see them try it though. As for us even getting close to them numbers. Not going to happen with our heavy body's & quad. They're easily 300+ lbs. lighter total than us in total weight. I thought about building a titanium chassis & all the lightweight components. That would knock out about a -120 lbs. off the total. As for knocking weight off the rider, we would probably have to become a crack addict & still be 50 lbs. heavier. Plus, there's no way I'm paying a crack head rider to pilot my quad; it's for my son's & my use only. As for the titanium BS, that would get us somewhat faster but wouldn't even put us on the radar! So, what do we have now? An OG heavy weight quad museum piece. Thee one & only 1700Camaro/STY!😁 Quote

Why not find a nice light Chromoly set up on the used market? The Turbo Chassis stock style and rigid rear set ups are pretty affordable when they pop up. Throw it together with as much Ti hardware as you can, and you’d have a pretty dominant set up once it’s dialed in. It would be an easy set up to switch between asphalt and sand/dirt. Quote

I've always enjoyed your replies not just to me but mainly others here & on FB! You have a good head on your shoulders. I'm waiting on the new billet transmission to get here. The shop is a mess with both the DMX & Camaro all torn apart. We will be testing/racing both in 3 weeks, hopefully. My lightened frame & wallet is off the table for now. Been thinking about building an engine with more stroke & bigger bore. The only reason we want to do that is for the Kingman Street Drags. We can be competitive in heads-up in the motorcycle class on the street. Pretty sure we can do it with the DMX as is, but more CC would be nice. The problem with Kingman is rolling the dice if the event will happen or not. The plan this year is to run 1/4-mile bracket racing against the bikes. Really wish it was 1/8th mile racing to knock some mph out of the quad. Thee one & only 1700Camaro/STY! 🙃 Quote
