LT ROOKIE Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 I broke a tooth on the small gear of my 2.68 straight cut gears. Can it be repaired or can I buy only the small gear? Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 I would buy a brand new set and start over. Taking a used gear and matching it with a new gear seems like trouble waiting to happen. Quote
wfobasheeboy Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 I would get a new set. You could have a hair line crack in the big gear waiting to brake. How did it brake? Quote
trickedcarbine Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Don't bother with mix and matching the gears from different sets. It's about like using a new ring gear and old pinion gear together. Sloppy. Quote
LT ROOKIE Posted February 18, 2013 Author Report Posted February 18, 2013 The gears are fairly new. I only have about 4 full runs trying to tune the bike, so if I can buy the small gear only it should be ok. Quote
Rotax Raptor Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Good luck. I went through this and called everyone I could think of that sold them. Nobody would sell the single gear. Had to buy a set. Quote
jbooker82 Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Why would the seller want to be stuck with one gear out of a pair. If you want to buy one gear then buy a pair. Sell the other gear yourself. Quote

You will be hard pressed to get someone to just sell half of the set. If they do you should quit playing the lottery, because that's all the luck one man gets in the year. Quote
shustack Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Who were the straight cuts made buy? Quote
#1JUANstunna Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Better question, why did it break after four passes? Quote
camatv Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 i think thats a better question... you better check your crank runout, and bushing on the clutch basket, and the crank bearings ... Quote
LT ROOKIE Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 I got them from k&t. I had a loose nut on the pancake bearing that came off and broke the gear along with the water pump gear. Quote
