guys i just sold my can am Ds450

so im in the market for a new Atv,i want to try out the banshee

but a lot of ppl do not recommend it as its not very reliable and require more frequent maintenance than 4 strokes

i love the banshee for its performance

i was looking for an '11 model year but found an 06 model

with the following mods:

new engine, wiseco piston , crank, clutch, in-line cooler, intake, wheel spacers, T5 Complete system, all fluid changed, rear sprocket

asking price is 3300$

the 2011 is 5700$

Check to see if it is a new engine or just a rebuild, if they did the work ask them what size piston they used this will indicate wether it's new, and will let you know how much life you have in the cylinders.

I'd go for the older model if the above checks out, as it's nearly half the money and has an exhaust system on it. There's no difference between the two apart from different coloured plastics.

Banshees are just as reliable as other makes/models of atv's. There is one exception to this......and that is.....it is WAY cheaper to rebuild a banshee motor than any 4 stroke atv motor of there.

There are a few things that you have to watch for when you have ANY 2 stroke.....

Carb jetting and mods.... Both interact with each other........if you lean it out it's going to damage the cylinders.....if you mod the motor and don't change the jottings then it's going to be lean and damage the cylinders.

But jetting is simple and with the knowledge that is one this website it is very easy to get near/where your jetting needs to be.

Define "Athena built"? Just a cylinder? Is it ported? If so what kind of porting? What size bore and stroke? What head are you running? What gas? I wouldn't go to 39s. Lil big. Maybe 33-35 depending on motor size and how you ride the thing. Do some looking around on here and see what other setups are running. Might try switching to shearer or maybe even sniper pipes from the cpis. Lil more top end.

There might be some gain by switching pipes but probably not the best bang for the buck. Bigger carbs will add some top end power but stock carbs can handle your motor from the sound of it. Like Dave said, what is athena built? Whats your bore and stroke?

*Edit I see you said stock crank. Maybe do a stroker crank and send the cylinders for porting to match the new stroke. What head and dome size?
