ruff_rida69 Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 ok I'm planing own building my own temp. gauge and the info wyoduner posted is really helpfull, but Im having a little trouble understanding where the meat temp gauge go's in, ok the T fitting splits and has a hose goning to the radiator and another coming up to the gas tank, does a smaller hose go into the bigger hose and then put the temp gauge into it and then clamp it down with hose clamps? deathmetal2004 Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 what about an automotive gage? the sensor is a little big but im sure it can be done, i think i got one laying around somewhere from some past vehicle, whenever it finnaly warms up ill see if i can get it to work. it would be nice to mount the gage right on the bars! Wallrat Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 See that small 3/8" hose that comes off the top of your head and goes into the top right side of the radiator? Thats the line that you want to splice the temp gauge into - usually closer to the radiator. I used one of those nylon t's originally and it broke before I even finished hooking everything back up. I used a SS fitting we had at work and it worked, but its really bulky. I've since welded up a SS 'y' fitting that will work better, I just haven't installed it. I can grab a pic tonight but won't be able to post until tomorrow. You'll need a few short lengths of increasing diameter hose to match the 1/8" diameter thermometer to the 3/8" hose. Quote

The T fitting I used is pretty bulky but after I snapped the nylon one during installation I had to find something in a pinch. That's 3/8" o.d. stainless tubing that comes out of the fitting to attach to the hose: And here's a pic of my inline cooler I mentioned earlier in the thread. Easy mod to do. Quote
