  1. just put them on my banshee. while it was a pain to install them due to lack of mounting space on a basically stock intake setup, they work like a champ.I went down 3 main sizes to compensate for the dial-a-jets and did a plug check. they were right on the money, both cyclinders were that lovely cardboard brown. im gonna try taking my airbox lid off and see if it will change the jetting at all. just thought everyone might like to know if they work
  2. if its blowing smoke its obviously running rich.if the smoke is real thick you might have to go down more than 1 size.i think its just jetting man, try leaning it out i think that will clear up the problem.
  3. we would like to make it versital for many different tracks. maybe even run asphalt if possible. we want to stretch the front end out to keep it planted while racing and have the -2 swingarm to really give it some bite off the line. basically we want to use the funny car principal. and of course a wheelie bar to keep it moving at wfo.rolling thunder was sweet. we stayed at the lodges by the paintball feild. couldnt have asked for a better place to stay for the price. and the bar was more happenin than i ever would have expected. the girl who runs the lights at the track, candice, is one of the coolest girls ive ever met. the locals dont really like the track, but then again they dont like the hatfield mccoy trails, i guess their just used to them.
  4. i think were going to run a 10mm stroker. of cource getting cases modded for it might come into play with that, but if we get porting and big bore, we will get it done all in one shot.ive been going through in my head how to tie up the front suspension. im thinking we can fab our own lower a-arms with adjustable ends on them and might be able to make some spindles(we work at a machine shop what a convinience!) then fab some type of strut off of the spindle. im gonna bring my shee to work tonite so we can figure some things out. thanks for the help and confidence everyone!
  5. heres the deal, me and a freind went to rolling thunder in logan, west virginia when we were riding hatfield mccoy trails and did some draging there. now were hooked on drag shee's and we want to build one. what our plan is is to buy an older shee thats been hammered and blown out the top end, whatever makes it cheap, then gut the motor, put an override trans in it,stroker crank, some serious drag porting, 35mm flatslides. maybe a big bore and a cool head with high comp domes and some side hanging drag pipes. maybe even a bottle of nitro if we need too. hope to get around 75-80hp. then for the frame lower it down, chop the front end and extend it out, -2 swingarm and a wheelie bar. anyone have any tips for us or suggestions on here we might go wrong with something. i know my 2 strokes pretty good(no genious though) and my buddy is a good welder, so i think we will do alright, just need some input from the experienced. any tips on cutting the frame or if anyone knows some good sites that have a blueprint or something for it would be nice also.
  6. the only reason i ever registered mine is to go down to PA! makes sense doesnt it? NY doesnt do anything for wheelers except make money of the fines they give you. i also figured if i have registration and insurance, thats 2 less tickets they can give me. yes the fees went up again, its now $27. im about to write an e-mail to the state.
  7. some people handle smokeing and driving better than others, me i would get stoned and would be totaly focused on the road, contantly looking for something to jump out at me, keeping good distance from cars ahead of me, watching my speed ect. there could be music blasting in the backround friends in the back, didnt matter, when i got behind the wheel i was there to do one thing, drive. how can you tell me that you will smoke me on a track? have you seen me drive? have i seen you drive? you could be an awesome driver, and kick my ass, stoned or not, or i can be an awesome driver and kick your ass, stoned or not. there was a key word when i said "I drove better stoned" not "everybody drives better stoned". face it, some people do things better stoned than others, i know some people that can play guitar awesome when their stoned, me i cant, i can pull some good riffs totally out of my ass but i mess up way to much, so i dont like to get stoned and play. people are to quick to piont out tangible things about people not whats actually wrong with a person. its like when some kid hangs himself, and he happens to listen to metal, what happpens? his/her favorite band gets blamed and sued(which is really bad if parents are trying to make money off of their kids death). the parents or whoever realize they didnt see that the kid was having problems in life before they killed themselves so they blame the easiest thing they can. i dont know, i gotta stop, we all have different opinions on the issue, i shouldnt be trying to get people to see it my way, no one ever will. We all see things different based on our experiences in life. think i could get a brittney spears fan to like slayer? hell no. just have to respect everyone for who they are, thats what its all about.
  8. the only reason it was illegalized in the first place was, back in the 30's and the great depression, alot of mexican migrant workers were comeing to the midwest and takeing farm jobs from americans, so they needed something to throw migrant workers in jail for. technically it was legal it this point, but you had to have a permit for it,BUT the only way you could get the permit was to have a bag present with you when you aplied for the permit but, if you had a bag and no permit, you got arrested for possesion!! it was made legal again for a little while but then the sixties came and they needed something to arrest protesters of the war, so they made it illegal again. the reason its still illegal is not because its "unsafe", they need a reason to clean the streets up, plus they can make more money from fines than if they legalized it. eveyone who has done it knows its not hazardous, all of these tv commercials you see are total BS. like when them guys hit the little girl on the bike, how many times do you see some rich wallstreet jerk readin his stocks and checking his cellphone while hes driving his preety little sportscar in the wrong lane of traffic. people drive like idiots, stoned or not. when i used to smoke(quit for my job) i never had a problem driving stoned, hell i drove BETTER! its when you get idiot kids who cant handle being stoned in a responsible way, and cant drive for shit in the first place that give the government an exuse to come out with those commercials. plus if they bust someone with alot of it, they can just sell it again and make a fortune on that. ever wonder what they do with all the trees they confiscate? they "incinerate it". my ass they do!!! its the same with cigarettes, think the government cares if people smoke? hell no! they love it, they know people are addicted and will pay anything for smokes so they jack the taxes up and make a fortune off of it!i live by an indian reservation and get my smokes tax free, the government will never get my cigarette money! well enough ranting for one day, i better get out of here before the fbi shows up.
  9. we manufacture cnc aluminum parts for motorcycles where i work. the way we polish it with a bench grinder motor, a buffing wheel, and polishing compound. you want to sand the part smooth, get out any nics and dings too because polishing will magnify these and look like crap. and try to sand the grain going in one direction, say vertically or horizantally, this makes polishing come out better. they you want to find some scotch-brite and follow the grain with that. then put plenty of polishing compound on the buffing wheel and polish away. you want to keep the wheel"open" meaning after some polishing time, the wheel will start to get a coating on it, and start to get solid, which will make it harder to polish, you cna use a comb or something to break it open when its running.
  10. i bought the ims tank just for going because i knew ill need it, i also have the out-n-back rack. im not exactly sure where we're staying ill have to ask my buddy who organized the trip, but i know its a new cabin the guy just built and its near the drag races and hillclimb and about 2 miles from a few of the trails. i got gbc shredders and and my stock tires for back ups. hopefully all will go well.
  11. we're going down there may 12-15(i think) anyone else going? ive never been there, hopefully the banshee will make it ok.
  12. if they have newer cars, a shitload of lead additive will plug their catalytic converters up. or put dirt in thier tanks, that will ruin the fuel pump. but doing things to peoples cars aint cool, id beat someone an inch from thier life than do anything to their car. i would call up every pizza place in town and have it delivered to their house late at night, all at various times so when their sleeping they have to get up to answer the door. prank phone calls are always good too, like tell them your the IRS and they owe you money. vandalism can get you in deep shit, so i would avoid anything like that. or just go over there and flip out on them, make them feel like thier the worst people on earth and they dont deserve to live, that will make you feel good, and them feel real real bad, cuz they have to look back at their miserable lives and that really gets old people. gather up everything you hate about them, drink a few beers, get real revved up and hot, go over there and bite their ears off with the most hateful ass reaming theve ever had in their life, just dont threaten them or they'l call the cops.
  13. this reminds me of the time i went to auto zone for a head gasket for a 5.7 chevy v-8(of course everyone knows is a small block chevy 350) i went up the the counter and told the guy, a younger guy, so i didnt think he knew what cubic inches were, so as not to confuse him,you know auto zone, "i need a head gasket for a 5.7 chevy" he replys "chevy never made a 5.7" i stared at him with the most awestruck face, shook my head and walked out. or the time i went for some 1/8 inch brake line, they guy hands me a 5 ft. section of 3/8 brake line, a clear difference in size. i told him "no, i need 1/8 brake line" he replies "that is 1/8 brake line" i turned the sticker over so he could see the label on it "oops hehe."dumbasses. im not saying im the brightest crayon in the box, but i know what a chevy "5.7" is and what 1/8in. brake line looks like!!!! DAMMMMMMNN! i either mail order my parts, or go to this little shop about 2 miles from me. the owner is the only guy that works there, he doesnt have much inventory, he doesnt deal any new quads or bikes(the place i got my banshee sux, but i didnt expect service, i just wanted a new banshee)prices arent the greatest, but the service is exceptional, the guy really knows his bikes and quads, and he treats everyone with respect. for shops like that im willing to pay a little more to help out the little guys.
  14. i dont think it would even run if it was in backwards. i got fmf fatties v-force reeds k&n with no lid and im running 300 mains, but i dont have the superstock pistons. i put a superstock piston, pro circuit pipe+sil, k&n with no lid on a blaster with 300 main and had no problems. it sounds like an air leak on that side, i would assume that the exaust after the burn is so hot from being lean that it burned up that side of the piston. where the leak would be from, could be anywhere.
  15. make sure you back out the tap every half turn or so to break the chips so you dont break the tap in the carbs. they dont give you vega taps in the kit, which have spiral flutes on them. with vega taps you dont have to back the tap out to break the chips, which is a little more user freindly, i dont know why they dont include those taps in the kit. and use good tap fluid or the best cutting oil you can find. you can put a peice of wood or something in the carb bore when your drilling so you dont break through and hit the other side of the bore.
  16. ive heard nothing but bad things about progressive, if you have to file a claim they skrew you. sometimes they can save you money, but as far as ive found its a rare happening. they wanted 900 and something a year for my banshee, and 2000 a year for my truck, i guess thats what i get for being a 19 year old male. i have 2 accidents from about 2 years ago and a speeding ticket from almost 3 years ago.luckly i found ins for my banshee for 290 a year with pretty good coverage. i hate insurance, them nazi politicians make you have it, so the insurance companies run their monopolies and jack up prices when they feel like it.kinda like OPEC. they got everyone by the balls.
  17. those aftermarket radiators are nice but i agree, they seem way overpriced for what they are. an aluminum radiator for my truck is about $200 and 3 times the size of a banshee radiator. i saw that ims makes them now for about $350(i think) which is still pricey, but better.
  18. i unpluged the black box on mine and cut all the wires down to free up some space, no problems at all. i unplugged the wires at the tors housings on the carbs before i unplugged the box, and it wouldnt run past idle. just disconnect the box and you wont have any problems, no splicing required
  19. i just got my fatties and they gave me 260 mains with the pipes themselves, but i got an alba jet kit with them wich came with 300's and of course needles and pilots. i put v-force reeds on it at the same time with a k&n but the 300 was too rich to run the airbox lid so i took it off and it was dead on(main jet anyway). so anyways, you have to take your carbs off and put those brass things (which are your main jets) in your carbs. i think there is a really good artical on jetting in the FAQ section on this site that probably tells you how to put them in, or you can take your wheeler to someone who has jetted 2 strokes before
  20. i got an ims tank recently and i cant figure out how to use the front mounting brakets they gave me. the instructions are the typical 1 peice of paper that says, in a nutshell,"install tank, check for leaks, ride". if anyone has this tank and figured out how to mount the front of it let me know, cuz i dont want to just mount the rear of the tank cuz it will vibrate loose.
  21. what about an automotive gage? the sensor is a little big but im sure it can be done, i think i got one laying around somewhere from some past vehicle, whenever it finnaly warms up ill see if i can get it to work. it would be nice to mount the gage right on the bars!
  22. what about some dimensions on this mod, how far should it be from the edge of the plate?
  23. now that the snow(and extreem cold in NY) has hit, i have my banshee torn arpart to fix some collision damage, and now i figure is a good time to mod my motor. basically i want to make improvements on all points of the powereband, espesially mid range and botom end, but i want to kick up the top end also to crush the 4 stroke riders i ride with. my planed mods are vito's superstock pistons, advancing the timing 4degrees, boyseen reeds reed spacers, fmf fatties, trinity cv intake with 35mm carb, k&n with outerwear and no airbox lid. then obviously new tires to put it all to the ground and i have works triple rate front shocks on the way in the mail. i know im going to gain alot of bottom end with all this but will i loose any top end? or will i get lucky and gain some?
  24. im definatly worried more anout my machine. last weekend i t-boned a ds-650 doing about 40mph. the whole time i was flying though the air, my first thought was"that cant be good my shee shut off when i hit him" then when i landed it was"oh man i hope i didnt bend anything" totaly ignoring the trobbing headache i had from the concusion i got, until i realized i had bent my upper right a-arm back 3 inches and cracked it and made my shock look like a half moon. then the headache set in. worst feeling in the world when you hurt your pride and joy
  25. i know they look kinda funny and i think i have to cut the fenders to fit one, but i need one for long hauls when i go to hatfeild-mccoy this spring. do these fit half way decent because i put one on a blaster once and it was about a 1/4 inch away from the pipe, obviously i sent it back, for fear of a blaster burning.
