-Herbie- Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 What insurance company is that you have? Geico which I have will charge me 33.00 a moth for full coverage on the quad.. Progressive, i had a Erie insurance before that and it was something like $400 a year so I switched after talking to other guys who use progressive and its $154 i think. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 As my Daddy used to say, "Locks only keep honest people honest" But X-2 on making imobile and locked down. Quote
tundish2800 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Get through this and you can have it. I have a 12 gauge that keeps a look out too. I live in a good neighborhood but there is always a few bad apples around. I just keep my truck blocking the driveway so no bikes can go between the house. If they try to lift it over the fence my room is right there. I live with my sister and she saw a guy run through our backyard one time and the cops were there in less than 3 minutes. The street behind me is a fire route and there is always cops on it. Quote
DallasGDub Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Great post. Some great ideas here. I will be adding to my security ASAP. I live in nice, secure area. But I am from a very different area. Growing up, people would go to the good neighbor hoods to steal the good stuff. So you are at risk in any area really. From what I have learned, good areas your car is safer, but your house is in danger. In bad areas, your car is the one at risk. Some areas you should fear both. Teen’s up to no good will take it or break it. Chances are it will happen while you are at work or away on vacation. It would be a sad day for someone’s family when they try to get in while I was home. Like everyone is saying, the longer it takes to steal, the better you are. It takes me about 15min to get my bike out. That is with me having all the keys, and I have a Tetris like routine to get it out of the garage. The harder it is for you, it is even harder for a thief. amstall Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I keep my banshee, yfz, and spare frame chained together. inside a locked up shed, inside a locked gate. If you have a concrete floor I'd definitely look into some good floor anchors. There's a bunch on this website ---> http://lockitt.com/lockdown.htm#TaffynaclesBoltdown Quote
RZBansheeMan Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 This might be a lil more time consuming, but you could take that thing all apart, into a gajillion pieces and hide it in many different boxes, take the frame - wheels - plastics and hide them in the attic then nobody will know its there.....J / K I live in a really safe and secluded place so I never have to worry but just read several great ideas, great responses guys. Profilact Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Buy your self a sawed off and a sleeping bag and camp in there with your bike. Crush a few light bulbs and spread the glass around the door and window so they make noise when they walk in so you wake up. That is the funniest thing I have heard/read all week!!! Take the tires and rims off, sleep on them and in the mean time put your banshee if a safe deposit box. Banks are not open at night and have great alarms systems so you should be able to sleep safe. Better read the fine print..thats what i thought too, instead they only agreed to pay up to a certain amount, even with receipts. If you have never had anything stolen that you tried to claim with insurance..be prepared for a long battle. volcrano Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 INSURANCE wont cover blood, sweat and tears and all the time you have put into it so i suggest security i agree u definately need security.im not saying put insurance on it and park it by ur mailbox with a key in it,im just saying besides a chain to a post on the garage, insurance will give you money.i know it doesnt cover the time and pride put in,but id rather recover something monetary than nothing at all if it ever were to happen.mines insured by progressive, ive had claims before (not for theft tho)and they have always treated me good.i hope to god i never have to turn in a claim on one of my shees being stolen.id prolly sport the guilly suit in the trails with a 9mm looking for a fucker on it lol, seriously tho.
