Alex29573 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) Hey all, I have a problem where my bike stll rolls forward when i have the clutch held in all the way. I tried adjusting the clutch cable on the handlebar first and that didnt do anything. Then i took the clutch cover off and I dont understand why I would see the clutches loosen up (i could wiggle them with my fingers) when i would hold the lever in and then the clutches would grab on tight when i pop the clutch. Anyways i adjusted the center screw down there, put it back together and the damn thing is still doing the same thing.. Please help!!! Edited August 4, 2009 by Alex29573 Quote
slopoke Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 sounds like the ball and push rod has welded together. You need to try to pull it all out and then put a pancake/pusher bearing mod on it. Quote
shanYE west Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 check for grooving in the basket and inner hub assemblies.. also.. heat can cause the steels to warp causing some drag to the clutch. Quote
Alex29573 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Report Posted August 5, 2009 i took everything apart and THANK GOD my ball and rod came out very easily... So now im not really sure what i'm looking for.. the manual has horrible black/white pictures that i cant really understand and this is my first time troubleshooting a tranny issue Im going to post pics up in a little bit of what everything looks like. Is the motor oil i put in yesterday supposed to be gray already? How do i know if the clutch is worn out or good? Quote
lokisbuddy Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Make sure the plates are in the right order, check the adjustment on the basket, also make sure the preassure plate is locked in the grooves. also make sure the washer behind the inner clutch hub is behind it and not in front of it (lol I made all of those mistakes while putting my clutch back in ) Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 sounds like you just need to adjust the clutch cable.. Quote
RZBansheeMan Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 If your fresh oil is grey already, you have more problems than a clutch cable adjustment. Quote
Alex29573 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Report Posted August 5, 2009 First pic- I drew arrows to where i think there might be wear/tear. Not sure if this is a problem or is normal... Also, the arrow on the top right corner, is pointing at a metal tab that im not sure what it does or if it even goes there... Lastly, When i spin the outer clutch basket, there is a little play before the gear in the back starts to spin. Is this a problem? http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/alex29573/one.jpg Quote

Alex29573 Posted August 5, 2009 Author Report Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) The springs are different colors and different heights - http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/alex29573/SN854037.jpg Adjusting screw is warped inside the pancake bearing looking thing (i dont think this is an actual pancake bearing). I think the pancake bearing replaces this piece? http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/alex29573/SN854035.jpg the manual says that there is a clutch plate, friction plate, and cushion ring. instead of 3 pieces, i have 2??? I also dont see that the clutch plates have cutaways so that i can align them 60 degrees from each other (manual) http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/alex29573/SN854042.jpg rod and ball look ok i guess? http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/alex29573/SN854036.jpg Case is banged up by inside http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/alex29573/SN854038.jpg Edited August 5, 2009 by Alex29573 Quote
shanYE west Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 looks like someone already put in a after market clutch and alternated the springs. Thats why you only have the friction and steels without the cutaways and no cushion rings. That basket looks wasted and should be replaced. The inner hub is showing some pretty nice grooving aswell. If it were me.. I'd change the basket, inner hub, pressure plate and throw in a new clutch pack and springs. Couldn't hurty to buy a fresh cable. Make sure everything is adjusted properly and you should good to go. Quote
patrickkomar Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I'm with fouledout on this one that clutch looks wooped! 1 Quote

BlasterKX Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 since all that is being done should i modd my shift star and shaft? it couldnt hurt to mod ur star and shift shaft as well if its not already done. Quote
shanYE west Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Magnum basket is good. Call Jeff @ FAST he'll have everything you need. The modded star or shaft wont have any affect on your problem. Quote
