obny Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Just got my 05 banshee. doing reutine maintenance. what lube is best for chain? what does facoty use for trans fluid? Quote
badbrad Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 no idea what the hell factory uses, but i first bought some klotz lube and its gummy and not so good. my bro bought some maxima lube and I think its the best Ive used yet. It dont gum up but keeps a nice lubricant on the chain Quote
shanYE west Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I like the maxima chain wax.. also like the bel-ray super clean chain lube.. Thats the 2 we use at the dealer. Quote

jbooker82 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 For the transmission I am sure that yamaha put 10w30 yamalube in it since that is what they specify. I run a 75 or 80w 2 stroke transmission oil in mine. Something like bel ray gear saver, klots flexdrive 30, honda hp, maxima mtl. Quote
gregrob Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Maxima chain wax is the best I've personally used. Just put it on about 10mins before you're going to ride to give it time to setup and it will provide good lubrication without being sticky. I literally ride where the chain is dragging in the sand all the way up the hill and it will just clean off at the top. Not sticky at all. Good stuff in my book. Help the NON O-ring chain last for going on 2 years plus how ever old it was when I got it. Oil it before and after every ride and that chain held up better than most O ring chains I've had. Quote

We have a farm with some tractors so I always have John Deere Chain and Cable lubricant spray. I use that before every ride. No stickiness but really thick and I never have any gunk on the chain even though I ride thru mud and loose dirt all the time. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I think its mostly going to be a preference. I buy whatever I grab before I check out at the stealership. Been using the PJ1 for a while now though and it seems pretty decent. Quote
kawa110 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 MAXIMA CHAIN WAX. works great. heard not to use it on o-ring chain due to sand getting stuck and eating o-rings. Ive never had that problem. I clean the chain often and wax after. Ill rewax before i ride depending on what it looks like. Quote
moneybags Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 I have been using some shit made by PJ1. It is good shit and does not make a mess like the Chain wax. Quote
