botlfed306 Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Any of you guys install a in line fuel filter on your Banshee? Just want to know if i should or not i did a search and cant find anything on the topic. Thanks Quote
gregrob Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 I wouldn't personally. I would be afraid it would restrict flow too much... Might not be an issue on gas but I run methanol and you need all the flow you can get. Quote

dajogejr Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 There are fuel screens in the gas tank for your fuel valve. Empty the tank, remove the fuel valve and make sure the ON and RESERVE screens are clean. Also helps to fuel your bike with a can/jug that has a fine screen, or you can put a screen in a funnel to fill the gas tank. I don't care what kind of filter system you're running, it's gonna get a tad bit of dirt in the engine at one time or another.... Quote
LS1Inferno Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 ive ran those little plastic ones with brass on the inside and i have a $10 autozone glass with plastic filter and i run 34PJ's it flow no problems it doesnt even fully fill with fuel because of its angle but i have no issues with it even WOT for a mile or two. Slickgib Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I wouldn't. Had one on my bike and it leaned my motor out so bad it over heated and seized the dang thing. Restricts flow tomuch Quote
AKheathen Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 the screens that come in the gas tank stock are actually alot finer than the little in-line filters, like the brass one and the screen kind, plus, they allow the debris to fall off the side of the filter, keeping it clear, unlike the inline filters. you might run one on an aftermarket fuel valve, if it doesn't have one, but otherwise, it becomes a reliability to plug up with sludge or separated oil/water, etc. just drain the bowls once in a while to keep them clean. any debris that you might find in the bowls come from other places in the carb, not the tank, unless it's rotten hose. look down in the bottom of the tank and you'll see what i'm talking about. Then you're lucky. I ran one of the small plastic type with the bronze inside and it didn't seem to affect anything. On the last day of a trip I broke. Took the top end apart and found one piston destroyed and the other was okay. Did the top end, took it to the desert to heat cycle it and it ran terrible. After making sure I didn't screw something up, we checked fuel flow frmo the tank to a gas can, with and without the filter in. The flow even with a brand new filter was half than without. My shee ran way better and I've never put a filter back on since. Quote
