grpark20 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I need to know if I will blow the tires off with this set up!? I'm not big into dragging, mainly playing around. I still want to be able to hook up, but play around too. I have, or will have, a 4 mil long rod set up with port work to match from Jeff @ F.A.S.T. and 33 PWK's. Suspension is +2+1 a-arms, +4 swingarm, elka dune edition shocks valved for the set up. I will be running stock gearing...14 tooth front, 41 tooth rear. I weigh 220 lbs if that matters? I plan on running 20x10x10 9 paddle haulers and 21x7x10 mowhawks. I'll be riding in all types of sand....heavy, light, tacky, etc. So will I blow the tires off? Feel free to offer up suggestions. 530grafix Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I'd run the 21-12-8 8 or 9 pdl haulers personally... Quote

2bzy2p Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 your gonna need more tire,at least 10s with a decent rollout like a 71 or so.how far are you racing,41 might need changed with 220 on it. Quote

grpark20 Posted November 2, 2008 Author Report Posted November 2, 2008 So do you think the same size...20x10x10 in 10 paddle would be better or loose the 10 inch rims. This will mostly be a play bike too? I have no cluse, that's why I'm asking and trying to argue a side I know nothing about. Forgive me if I'm being an idiot. Quote
slowblueshee2 Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Those should be fine. I run a ported 4mil stock cylinders with a 4in swinger on20x11x9 8 paddle extremes for play tires. Had 20x11x9 8 paddle haulers loved them so when they wore out after about 2 and1/2 years I bought extremes in the same size. Quote
burleybanshee Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 I'm 230pounds with basic same bike. Run 15-41 with 21x12x8 8 paddles. Had 20x10x10 9 paddle extremes, now on wife's raptor. The 21 drag a lot better, not as good out of the hole, but much faster on top. the 20's on 10" rims are good for playing/sliding around. Get the 21 and air them up firmer and they play well, then air them down to drag. Don't run 15 front tooth unless you are in powder sand or have alot of motor for dragging, normally have to start in 1st gear, up side there is a lot less shifting when playing around in the dunes Quote

grpark20 Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 Thanks everyone for the advice and help. I've decided to go with the 20x10x10 9 paddle skat trak hauler extremes. Hopefully the stronger will help plant the power better? If I blow them off, I'll go up to a 15 tooth front sprocket. Has anyone been able to tell a big difference in the extremes vs normal haulers? burleybanshee Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 The extremes have a stiffer paddle and you don't lay them over as much as a normal hauler paddle. Good rule is to run one less paddle than a normal hauler. A 9 paddle extreme will grip as much as a regular 10 paddle hauler. I would go with the extreme, the paddles last longer, they don't split and crack at the bonding location of the tire, like normal hauler paddles do after a while Quote

I had 20x10x10s on mine when it was stock they were great. After the port work, pipes and carbs they wouldn't hook up anymore. Just fishtailed and shook. I put 21x11x8s and now IT HOOKS. Quote
