prossett Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 What would be your absolutely necessary body protection gear if you could not buy complete sets? Quote
jjn56 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 For me its a kidney belt cause I've got a bad back. Quote
Wildcard2 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I would say you have to look at your riding like what kinda terrain you ride on. But i have found that jeans hold up better to riding pants in gravel and hard dirt and asphault. I have friends that ride with arm and knee pads that you use for skateboarding. I would say the chest protecter. broken ribs suck. or the neck brace thing i cant remember what its called. I wrecked my shee and wacked my neck across the handle bar had a bruise for 2 weeks and it hurt to turn my head or talk. just some thoughts on diffrent stuff. Quote

prossett Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Yeah, terrain - I should have mentioned that... sand dunes. I guess the dangers are more from impact than scraping off skin, and no roost stones in my face, pretty smooth on the kidneys and internal stuff. But there's cresting over and jumps, and landing on the bike is pretty bad, though not as bad as the bike landing on you! Quite possible to topple over, even head over heels. But no trees. I don't do long high jumps (yet! Helmet, definitely, and I've got that. Quote
desertdeweller Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Trojan J/k helmet for your riding style, boots, gloves. I like chest protectors they are really only designed for rock deflection. but have saved me from a lot more road rash from crashing they will absorb some of the imact though not much. I have my camelbak mounted on my chest protector as well. so it serves more than one purpose. Quote

Boots, gloves, and lid are essential, that is all i use. But if you are really worried about falling hard I'd look at one of those under jersey body suits http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productD...odFamilyId=7294 http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productD...odFamilyId=8284 Quote
